Jordan groaned as he was smacked in his sleep. He stretched a little, burying his face in his pillow as he yawned.

"Mmm... Doll?"

"Jordy? Shit, wake up!"

He was smacked once again, this time a little harder, right in the middle of his back. As he looked over, the pained look on Dahlia's face was enough to launch him out of bed completely.

"I think it's time...she's coming!"

"What?! Like-- right now?!"

"No, Jordan! She phoned it in last night and said she'd be here next week-- yes, right now!"

Dahlia had woken up about an hour ago, feeling what she thought were early labor pains. Once they got to be too much, she'd finally woken up Jordan, who was now running out of the room like a crazy person.

Dahlia stood from the bed, going over her dresser to grab a pair of sweatpants. She brought them over to the bed squatting down in pain as she felt another contraction rip across her belly.

She panted, trying to calm her breaths as the pain subsided, just as Jordan returned. He quickly threw on a sweatshirt and the next thing he was focused on was helping his wife into the pants she was struggling with.

"Alright, Doll, the go-bags are both in my car. Car seat is all set up. All we need to do now is get Mommy in the car. You ready to meet Sunny?"

Dahlia bit her lip and nodded, and as Jordan's words seemed to calm her down, he managed to quickly get her into the car, kissing her temple as he buckled her in.

"Let's go have our baby girl."

"False alarm?! Are you kidding me?! I mean-- what the hell does she know?"

Jordan sighed and gave Dahlia a tired smile as he opened the passenger door for her.

"She was the nurse, babe."

Dahlia glared and cocked her head as Jordan closed her door for her, seething until he made his way around the car and got into his own seat.

"So... you're agreeing with that bitch? You're taking her side?"

Jordan chuckled and shook his head as he started up his truck, heading out of the emergency room parking lot.

"Of course, not, baby. I want her here just as bad as you--"

Dahlia scoffed and shifted uncomfortably in her seat.

"Okay-- maybe not as bad-- but you know I can't wait to hold her. It's just-- it's not quite time yet, Doll."

"No..."

Jordan sighed, not realizing just how serious the situation was until he looked back over at Dahlia, who had huge tears pooling in her eyes as she looked down.

Jordan's eyes followed hers and widened in horror as he noticed the giant red stain.

The blood pooling in Dahlia's lap was the scariest thing Jordan had ever seen, and he was almost on autopilot as he flipped the car around, speeding back to the emergency room entrance.

After barely stopping the car, Jordan carried a semi-conscious Dahlia through the front doors, immediately crying out for help.

"I always loved you, Jordy. Right-- right from the start."

He looked down with tears in his eyes, as he watched her fade away, and suddenly the light in Jordan's life just didn't seem to be there.

"Doll...? Baby, no-no-no!!!!!"

Jordan frantically smacked Dahlia across the face, his heart bottoming out when there was no response.

As a group of nurses began to approach them, a gurney was dragged over, two men grabbed Dahlia from Jordan, placing her on the stretcher, before wheeling her away from the man whose whole world just shattered in front of him.

As he slid down the closest wall, Jordan felt absolutely helpless, not knowing if he'd ever see the light in Dahlia's eyes again-- or if he'd ever get to see his baby girl.

He only noticed the blood-stains on his trembling hands when he pulled out his ringing phone.

He took a deep breath and shook his head, forgetting that on the way to the hospital, they'd called all the grandparents and godparents.

"Kat-- something happened."
