For Dahlia, the only part about the move that made it even slightly worth it was the pool in the high-rise condo that she and her father lived in downtown Orlando.

Her Junior year ended uneventfully after moving, with a few friends made, all while missing the hell out of Jordan and now, she was spending this hot, sunny July day with a friend from her new school, Monique.

They instantly clicked that first day Dahlia arrived at Wilson High. Dahlia was outwardly confident, but a shaking mess on the inside and Monique could spot it right away. She yanked Dahlia to the side after she finally got to her locker, and has stuck by her side ever since.

The two spent the early afternoon by the pool before they decided to go and get ice cream.

"Is it always this hot during the summer?"

The two were riding the elevator down to the ground floor when Dahlia commented on the weather.

"Aww, Little Miss Colorado can't handle the heat?"

"Shut it, Mo. It's not the heat, it's the humidity. It's way too muggy."

Dahlia picked at her shirt and used it to fan herself as the elevator settled on the lobby floor.

"It's been a sticky summer, for sure, but, don't worry, you'll get used to it. I was the same when I first moved here, and by the next summer, I didn't even notice. We can even make a little drive to the beach later. It's kind of a drive away, but it's worth it."

The two were approaching the front lobby when a familiar voice echoed through the glass building.

"But, it's a surprise! She doesn't know I'm here."

"Then, Sir, unfortunately, you can't be let up. Your name isn't on the visitor's list."

Jordan raked a hand through his hair then yanked on it as he leaned on the reception desk. He hadn't told Dahlia he was coming and now he didn't know how he was going to see her without ruining the surprise.

"Jordan?"

Her voice caused his head to snap over and seeing her standing there after four months nearly floored him. As the two walked toward each other, Dahlia bit back a smile and tears.

Once he reached her, Jordan scooped her into his arms, deeply inhaling the familiar coconut-vanilla body wash she used.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and clutched her elbows as she felt him lifting her off the ground.

"I missed you so much."

"I missed you too, Jordy."

He set her down and kept his hold on her, staring at each of the features on her face for a moment before moving to the next, not wanting to overlook anything on the face he'd missed the past 121 days.
