"And with the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Las Vegas Raiders select..."Everything came down to this moment. Everyone knew the Raiders desperately needed a new quarterback and this year there were two top prospects who had battled neck-and-neck throughout the season and even at the National Championships.
Being the number-one draft pick would completely change the trajectory of one of their lives in just moments.
The first was a fifth-year senior at the University of Miami. A rather large player for his position, the bulky kept his team at the top of their division, relying mainly on the offenses running game.
The other quarterback was a bit younger. After completing his junior year at USC and winning the National Championship, he decided to opt-out of his senior year so he could enter the draft.
The only similarity between the two was the fact that each man was praying his name would be read.
"... Jordan Prescott."
The crowd roared and as cameras began clicking and flashing around him, a petite hand gripped Jordan's arm, jolting him back to life as she whisper-yelled in his ear.
"Jordy, you did it! You really did it, baby."
He looked over at the tiny blonde, whose eyes welled with pride, knowing she was right.
As he stood from the table, he pulled her into a warm hug, nearly squeezing the life out of her as reality finally began to sink in.
He had finally made it.
"I did it! I really did, Ma!"
His vision blurred for a second when they pulled back, a combination of the tears and flashing lights around him.
His father pulled him in next, clutching the back of his head as the two men shared a hug.
"I'm so proud of you, Son. You've become quite the man."
"Learned from the best."
As the two separated, Jordan noticed a wet spot on his father's cheekbone.
"Dad--"
"Go get up there, Kid. You got some important people to meet."
Jordan's dad gave him a playful shove, sending him on his trip towards the stage.
He was congratulated on his way to the stage by some of the other eligible players, some of whom he'd played with or against through college and some even as far back as high school.
This was the moment he had dreamt of since he was six years old and still to this moment, all he could think about was one person.
Was she watching?
What was she thinking?
Did she miss him like he missed her?
The questions all came to a halt when he was handed a black Raiders hat. With a smile on his face, he slicked a hand through his stylishly messy hair before covering his dark tresses with the hat.
As he approached the podium, the Commissioner handed him a Raiders jersey and as Jordan read the back, his smile widened, chiseled jaw flexing as the cameras took pictures of Sin City's next big thing.

"Congratulations, Jordan! The league has been watching you for a while and everyone is really looking forward to seeing what you have to offer in the future."
As the two stood side-by-side, they each held up an end of the jersey for all of the photographers.
The Commissioner kept going on about his future and how he already has Hall of Fame potential, but all Jordan could think about were the past few years and everything that had led him to where he was standing now.
