"Lia, relax."Dahlia huffed and rolled her eyes as she looked over at Kat, whose newfound confidence was booming.
"Easy for you to say, Kit-Kat. You're used to this. Marcus has been starting since last year. This is big for Jordan. Mark's injury basically threw Jordan in the spotlight."
"So, does this mean I finally get to see the Prescott Maniac?"
Dahlia smirked and sort of sshrugged, knowing damn well that the second Jordan had the ball in his hands, she'd be screaming bloody murder.
"Maybe."
✨
"Yes!!! Come on! Go. Go. Go. Go... goooo YASSSSSSSS!!! Fuck yeah, Kat did you see that?!"
"Lia, everybody saw it! That was amazing!"
**Prescott completes a 32-yard pass to Gardner and that's his fourth touchdown for the day. I'll tell you, Cole, there were a lot of whispers and doubts about this Prescott kid, but after today, I think it's safe to say there is NO doubt-- this kid is something special.**
Dahlia smiled and turned her head back a little to get a better listen. Some students behind her brought a portable radio and were listening to the game on the broadcast station. As the announcers continued reviewing the stats for the game, the final whistle blew, signaling the last play.
"We're going down there... aren't we?"
Kat had a questionable look on her face as Dahlia stood and stretched.
"Heck yes, we are!"
✨
Jordan had given interviews for his high school newspapers, but it was nothing compared to being interviewed by a national sports show on the field after his first victory.
As students all celebrated around him, Jordan had to lean in to hear the interviewer's question, trying to block out the bands playing and the crowd's screaming.
"Now, coming into this week, you had no clue you were going to be playing, let alone starting. What was your mentality as you ran onto the field today."
"What happened with Mark definitely sucked and I wasn't expecting to be starting out there today, but I knew I had to go out there and keep our season going."
"Well, you guys are now 3-0 after an impressive performance today and it looks like this is looking like the beginning of a very strong season."
"Well, Coach has a strategy and we were all able to go out there and execute it. Our routes just seemed fluid, I was really connecting with the receivers today. It felt good."
"Well, it looked good. Well, Jordan, great game and good luck this season."
"Thank you."
Jordan nodded and smiled politely before the interviewer walked away, flanked by her cameraman and crew.
After pulling off his gloves and stuffing them into his helmet, Jordan was swarmed by a mass of students, all celebrating his first win as a starter.
All the praise and adulation coming from the crowd couldn't compare to the moment when he finally saw her.
Dahlia had split off from Kat somewhere in the crowd after bumping into Marcus. After assuring them that she'd be fine by herself in the throng of people, she finally set her eyes on the gorgeous, sweaty, jersey-clad quarterback she'd been watching all morning.
"Doll..."
It was barely a whisper when it bounced off his lips, but a moment later she was home in his arms, not giving a fuck about how sweaty or gross he was after four quarters of domination.
Jordan wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her off of the ground before their lips met, and Dahlia had her arms locked tightly around his neck. As they pulled away, Dahlia smirked as she looked back at the final score on the scoreboard.
31-14
"Nice, game Prescott."
Jordan smirked and pulled her again for another kiss. When they broke apart, Jordan sucked on Dahlia's bottom lip, pulling it with him a little as he moaned.
"Mmm, what can I say? That good luck this morning really helped me out there."
