"Jordan, it's not--""Not the right time. I know-- you said that already."
The two were staring for a moment before Jordan turned back in his seat and started up his car once again.
"Doesn't matter anyway. You're gonna do what you wanna do, Dahlia. Just... just get out, okay?"
The moments seemed to blur together for Dahlia, who, in just a few moments, was entering her and Jordan's home, by herself.
Being in the house alone that night felt weird for Dahlia; aside from the weekends when the team had away-games, Jordan had never spent a night not at home.
After slipping into one of Jordan's shirts, Dahlia crawled into bed, feeling like total and utter crap.
Every time she questioned whether or not she and Jordan were ready, a weird feeling rose in her gut and she would start to feel nauseous.
After the 3rd round of queasiness, Dahlia rushed to the bathroom, and just after she kneeled in front of the toilet, her stomach ejected its contents from the night.
She grabbed a bit of toilet paper and wiped her mouth before moving to the sink to brush her teeth.
When she was finished, she took a deep breath and looked in the mirror, looking first into her own bloodshot eyes, down to her still-flat tummy, before dropping her head, feeling more tears roll down her face.
"This is all my fault."
✨
Jordan's early-morning scrimmage would have been over for at least an hour, and every minute that went by that he hadn't come back home was another minute that was driving Dahlia insane.
