That early week in December had been especially hectic for Dahlia. After helping Kat and Marcus, the newlyweds, move into their new apartment, Dahlia's dad was in town for business and she was nervous about him coming over for dinner with her and Jordan.

"It'll be okay, babe."

Dahlia looked up from the flatware she was setting out next to each of the three plates on the table. She sighed and slightly rolled her eyes, huffing as she tried her best to breathe her nerves out.

When that didn't work, she shook her head, finally setting down the forks, before she turned to look at Jordan.

"But this is big, Jordan. It's huge."

"I guess."

Dahlia's eyes widened at Jordan's ease and calmness.

"Seriously? You guess?!"

Jordan's face lit up with a smile as he walked towards Dahlia, lacing his fingers together around the small of her back.

"Come on, Doll. He had to have known this would happen eventually."

Dahlia nodded, looking up to admire Jordan's handsome face when there was a knock at the door.

Letting out a nervous sigh, Dahlia pulled away from Jordan, whose eyes scanned over Dahlia's face.

"You ready?"

She nodded, and took a deep breath, preparing herself for what was going to happen after she opened that door.

Dahlia couldn't pretend she didn't notice the weird look her father gave to both her and Jordan. As she passed him the green beans, she finally voiced what was on her mind.

"What, Dad?"

Mr. Winters studied his daughter's nervous fidgeting for a moment before glancing over at Jordan, who was watching her, worriedly.

"Nothing."

He shook his head casually before dishing the green beans onto his plate.

With his eyes focused on the food, he continued.

"So, Jordan-- this has been an impressive season for you and the team."

"Uhh, tha--thank you, Sir."

"Don't be so modest, son. You had an undefeated season, that's not something to just discount. You boys were amazing."

Dahlia relaxed a bit as her dad and Jordan continued talking about football, and the upcoming Rose Bowl Jordan was starting in that very Saturday.

"I'm feeling pretty confident. I mean, it's a big deal-- it's the Rose Bowl-- but I don't know... if I just focus on that field..."

Mr.Winters smiled at the far-off look on Jordan's face that turned into a smile once he looked over at Dahlia, who grabbed his hand.

The two looked at each other for a moment, silently communicating. Jordan raised his eyebrows and Dahlia nodded before they both looked back at her father.

"Daddy... we uh-- we kinda have something to tell you."

Mr. Winters wiped his mouth with his napkin nodding, before setting it down. He took a deep breath before speaking.

"Oooookaaaayyy..."

"Well, you know Jordan and I have been together basically for forever and well..."

Dahlia's dad sighed, looking between Jordan and Dahlia, before nodding knowingly.

"So, when's the baby due?"

The soda that Jordan was drinking shot out of his mouth as he spat in shock. As he covered his face with a napkin, his eyes widened.

"No, no, no, Mr. Winters! Dahlia's not--"

Jordan turned to look at Dahlia for confirmation. After she shook her head, Jordan let out a small sigh of relief as he turned back to her father.

"She's not pregnant, no."

"Well, if it's not a baby--"

"Dad!!!"

Dahlia's father shrugged and threw his hands up in defense.

"Well?! What is it?"

Dahlia looked over at Jordan with a warm smile on her face before looking back at her dad.

"Well, Daddy... after the Rose Bowl... and before the school year ends, Jordan's moving in here-- with me."
