The next morning, as Dahlia laid sleeping peacefully, Jordan was busy doing what he did most mornings he woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep--talk to his daughter.

"And then the officiant-lady said that Mommy and Daddy were married and, Babygirl... Daddy was soooo happy. It's cause your mommy's the only woman I ever want anything with, including making you-- hell, especially making you. Oops, don't let Mommy know I used a bad word, okay?"

His phone began vibrating on the nightstand, and after checking it, Jordan moved back over to Dahlia's tummy, once again whispering to his little one.

"Alright, Babygirl that's your grandma. You get some sleep in there and we'll talk later, okay? Oh, and don't forget-- be a good girl for Mommy. Daddy loves you."

Jordan slipped out of bed and headed to the bathroom, slightly closing the door as he answered his phone.

"Hey, Ma."

"Jordan Nelson Prescott-- why in the hell did I just get a phone call from some reporter at HollywoodNow asking about your wedding in Northern California?! What the hell Jordan?"

"Jesus, Mom, calm down!"

"Calm down?! My son gets married and I find out from a reporter and now said 'son' wants me to calm down? Jordan, they said they have a copy of a marriage license. You and Lia-- how could you-- were you trying to hurt me?"

Jordan sighed and rolled his eyes, sitting on the edge of the bathtub.

"This is exactly why I did what I did! Ma, do you remember when Dahlia and I told you about the baby?"

His mother was silent on the other end so Jordan took that as his cue to continue.

"You somehow made that night about you, and you made Dahlia cry. Look-- yesterday-- that was just for us. For me and her. I love you, Ma, you know I do, but I had to do this. I just hope you can one day understand and not be mad at us for it."

Charlotte sighed and nodded, telling her son she always understood how serious he was about her new daughter-in-law, and that she'd always love them; that Dahlia had always been a daughter to her and she loved them both beyond her whole heart.

After hanging up with his mother, Jordan re-entered the hotel bedroom to find Dahlia now awake, sitting up, watching a sports-news channel on the television.

He crawled back into bed with her and watched as the short segment featured Jordan and how he'd wed his longtime girlfriend in a secret ceremony. There wasn't much more information aside from the fact that Dahlia and Jordan were students together at the University.

As the program went to commercial, Jordan wrapped his arm around Dahlia, protectively leaving a kiss on his wife's temple as she sighed and turned the television off.

"So, it's out."

"Don't worry, Doll. I'm gonna protect you. No matter, what-- you guys are my number one."
