Dahlia squinted her eyes and tilted her head in confusion before she began shaking her head.
She had to have heard him wrong.
"Wait... what?"
She chuckled, knowing there was no way he actually said what he said.
"Yeah, right Jordy. Come on, tell me what's up."
Jordan closed his laptop and sighed, covering his face with his hands in shame, feeling unworthy of even looking at Dahlia.

His reaction alone was enough to let Dahlia know Jordan wasn't kidding.
He kissed someone else.
He had another girl's lips on his.
He... he cheated.
"It didn't mean anything, okay? It was a mistake."
Hearing him say that ripping her heart didn't mean anything was like a slap in the face for Dahlia and suddenly, she felt sick.
Sitting there with Jordan just didn't feel right anymore, not after the news he just delivered. Dahlia hopped back and off of his bed, quickly sliding into her back into her fuzzy slippers. She knew she had to get away from this nightmare.
"Baby, wait!"
Jordan was up a moment later, gently gripping her wrists, trying to pull her back in, but it was already too late.
Dahlia's tears had begun to spill and he knew he was losing her.
"No, Jordan."
The calm tone in her voice scared Jordan... he knew it was masking something much bigger on the inside.
"All this time, fifteen years... I thought I was lucky. I found my person... the guy that was never going to hurt me. You were the one person I thought I could trust."
"Doll, you can tr--"
"Obviously, I can't."
Dahlia moved towards the door and grabbed the handle. She sighed before turning back to look at him and as she noticed the tears they both had in their eyes, she shook her head, knowing it was all Jordan's fault.

Her voice was throaty and scratchy as she spoke after sniffling back a few extra tears.
"I don't trust you, Jordan. And I never thought that would be something that could happen."
After a final sigh and head shake, Dahlia turned back around and left Jordan's room. All she wanted to do was run up to her room and bury herself under her blankets until the panic-riddled heartbreak she was feeling inside would finally stop.
