"I'm not gonna tell you again-- and this goes for the both of you. You've both been running around on fumes the past few days, and Sunny's barely a week old."

"But--"

"No, buts, Lia. Besides, the doctor said you should be resting, anyway. We want you to heal, not have your stitches get ripped open."

Dahlia huffed, knowing Jordan's mom was right, but the new mom in her could barely take her eyes off of Sunny.

"You two, go take a nap or something. This little one is doing just fine with her Grams... yes she is."

Dahlia nodded and smiled in half exhaustion, as Jordan gently pulled her towards their bedroom.

After a few minutes of laying in bed, the door creaked open. Dahlia shot up, wincing a bit from her stitches as she watched Charlotte enter the room, carrying a sleeping Sunny in a Bjorn.

"Won't be needing this."

Charlotte whispered as she grabbed the baby monitor off the bedside table. Dahlia knew if she shouted, she'd wake up both Jordan and Sunny, so instead she mouthed to Charlotte something about the baby getting hungry.

"There's plenty of breastmilk in the fridge. Get some sleep, little girl."

Dahlia wanted to fight it for a moment, if only to watch over a sleeping Sunny, but exhaustion finally overtook her.

Dahlia huffed and nodded, finally laying back in bed, smiling sleepily as Charlotte tuckeck her and Jordan in before leaving the room.

"Get some sleep, you two."

Jordan snuggled carefully against Dahlia's side, nuzzling her ear and she fell asleep.

"Thanks, Mom."

Charlotte walked down the hall, peeking her head in, before entering her granddaughter's room. She stood over her bassinet for a moment, admiring the baby's beauty before kissing her forehead and leaving the room.
