"(Y/N)! Come back! I didn't mean it!" The door slammed behind me and I leaned against it as I heard Jack continue attempting to apologize. He had come down to the Regal Beagle and disrupted my date yet again.

"Go away Jack! I don't want to talk to you." I slid down the door and rested my head in my hands. The man was incorrigible. The only reason I had come back to his shared apartment was because Janet had told me I would have the place all to myself tonight. Clearly she had been wrong because Jack had been home when I got there and then followed me to my date. He said it was to keep an eye on me but I knew why he always seemed to show up when I was having a good time. The man had flirted with me since I met him and now that we were friends it was even worse.

"I meant nothing by it (Y/N). I swear. Just a bit of harmless flirting." Jack sounded desperate and I just let my head fall back against the door. That's what it normally was. Harmless flirting. But when you have been eyeing your date for the past six months and they finally ask you out, that harmless flirting does some serious damage. I stood up and, wiping the tears from my eyes, started to change into my sleepwear.

"No it wasn't Jack." I said before ignoring him for the rest of my nightly routine. I eventually heard him sigh and move away from the door. I took a deep breath and resigned myself to the fact that I would be sharing the apartment with Jack tonight. I settled in the bed for a little while to read while debating making a call to Janet at her mom's house or Chrissy at her date's house. I even thought about calling Larry before shaking my head, knowing he would talk me into making up with Jack. I heard movement in the living area before I head a door closed. I cautiously got up and went to the phone. I stood there with it pressed against my ear and waited for Larry to answer, all the while thinking about how bad an idea this was.

"Hello?" he asked sleepily.

"Larry? Can I talk to you?" I asked quietly. He made a small noise of acknowledgment before I continued. "Jack broke up another of my dates tonight." Larry sighed.

"I know. I heard about it." I could tell Larry had woken up more by now. "Jack was nearly in hysterics when he found out you were going to go out with the guy that screwed over Chrissy. Not only that but Jack almost always hates it when you go on a date. There's something about you that he can't get out of his head." I froze for a second, taking in this new information.

"What do you mean Larry?" I asked, my voice raising a little bit.

"He likes you (Y/N). Hasn't that been obvious?" Larry responded. He sounded shocked that I didn't know this. "Jack always thought you knew. I mean you always flirted back." I let my head fall back against the wall.

"I know but I thought it was all fun and games. I never knew there was a reason Jack did it all the time." I sighed as I thought about all the times Jack and I had flirted. I would be lying if I said it hurt a little knowing it was meant to be harmless. But knowing that Jack actually meant something by it was starting to make that wound close up a little. "Larry how do I fix this?" Larry laughed and I could tell he was shaking his head.

"You don't have to do anything. Just go talk to him about it. And don't hold back." He sounded confident that I wouldn't mess this up. "You won't mess this up (Y/N). Go to him." Larry hung up and I let the phone fall from my grasp.

"You can do this." I whispered to myself over and over as I walked towards his door. I froze with my hand raised to knock before shaking my head and racing back to the kitchen. I burst in and froze. "Jack!" I exclaimed.

"Hi!" Jack responded, looking like he had just raised his head from the table. "How can I help you?" He was giving me the biggest smile as if we hadn't just had a massive fight.

"I....I just..." I pointed behind me before sighing and taking a seat across from him. "I just got off the phone with Larry. He pointed something out to me that I didn't know before." I played with the edge of the table and I noticed that Jack had frozen.

"What did he say?" Jack's voice broke as he asked. I bit my lip and had to hold back my nerves.

"He said that you flirted because you liked me." I said quietly. Jack stood up quickly, sweat appearing on his face. He ran his hands through his hair and shook his head.

"I'm going to kill him." Jack said before running out of the room. I stood up and followed him.

"Jack! Don't!" I called after him. He turned to me and I could see his hands shaking.

"Why not?" He asked. I took a deep breath before taking the jump.

"Because I like you too." I said as I stepped into his bubble. "A lot. It's why I flirt back." Jack's arms came up to pull me into him. I put my hands on his chest before gently tugging him into a kiss. Jack pulled away with the biggest smile I had ever seen on his face. "What?" I laughed as he quickly kissed me again before heading towards the door.

"I'm going to go thank Larry." I laughed as I followed Jack out the door.
