AN: I heard this song and couldn't help but think of Loki. Like it is perfect for him.

Song: I Fell In Love With The Devil by Avril Lavigne

I should have known the minute I met him. This would be dangerous. The prince of Asgard. Heir to the throne of Johutenheim. God of mischief, lies, and deceit. Loki.

Shotguns and roses make a deadly potion
Heartbreak explosions in reckless motion
Teddy bears and "I'm sorry" letters
Don't seem to make things better
Don't bury me alive
Sweet talkin' alibi
But I can't stop the rush
And I can't give you up
No I know you're no good for me
You're no good for me

Silver tongue. Everyone said he had one. He did. In more ways than one. Lies could roll off his tongue easily and no one would know except him. For a time I thought I knew when he was lying but in the end I would never be able to. In time, I learned what he was. A devil.

I fell in love with the devil
And now I'm in trouble
I fell in love with the devil
I'm underneath his spell
Someone send me an angel
To lend me a halo
I fell in love with the devil
Please save me from this hell

It started with the ball that would have followed Thor's coronation. Even though the frost giants had attacked, Odin was not one to shy away from something he had already planned. Especially not for Thor. I never thought that I would run into the dark prince as everyone called Loki. Polite, charming, genuine. Those were the words I would have used to describe Loki that night. Conversation started and flowed easily. Neither of us had been drinking and that was probably a good thing. Thor and the Warriors three were beyond drunk and Sif wasn't any better. Loki was trying to keep his distance from them, knowing he would be the butt of the prank if he stuck around them. Always had been since childhood. His eyes kept darting towards them even as he offered to dance with me. As the night went on and Loki kept me entertained, more words joined my first impressions of him. Handsome. Gentleman. Perfect. How wrong I was.

Got me playin' with fire
Baby hand me the lighter
Tasted just like danger
Chaotic anger
But I can't stop the rush
No I know you're no good for me
You're no good for me

From meeting at the ball to Odin allowing Loki to court me to a marriage that would unite Asgard, Loki and I had been through it all in a thousand years. A thousand years. That was how long the wonderful bliss of being with Loki lasted. Odin ruined it all. I had known Loki had always wanted the throne and I knew what he thought of Thor. I shared those sentiments. Loki always would have been better suited for the throne. Odin just wouldn't realize it. Then came the realization of who Loki really was. Laufey's son. A frost giant. "The monster parents tell their children about at night." I never agreed with Loki, just tried to put him back together. For a time, I believed it was working. I didn't know what he was planning while he pretended everything was perfectly fine.

I fell in love with the devil
And now I'm in trouble
I fell in love with the devil
I'm underneath his spell
Someone send me an angel
To lend me a halo
I fell in love with the devil
Please save me from this hell

The first fight was the worst. As soon as Loki found out where Thor was on Midgard, I knew he had been lying. Something was seriously wrong with the man I had fallen in love with.

"So it was all a lie Loki?" I yelled. Loki sat on the throne of Asgard as he had always wanted. He watched as I mounted the stairs. "From the very beginning?" His cold eyes held mine and I couldn't, wouldn't, believe this was the man I loved.

"I never lied to you (Y/N)." Loki easily lied. His eyes never left mine but there wasn't anything behind them. They were just dull. "Not about us." I shook my head and stopped in front of him. He uncrossed his legs and sat up a little straighter in the throne. I looked him over, from the horned helmet on his head to the scepter in his hands to the boots he wore. Everything was a brighter shade of green and gold and I almost let myself think he looked more handsome than ever in the enhanced colors and sitting on the throne.

"How do I know that isn't a lie Loki? You are the god of lies. It's what you do." I said. Loki stood up in front of me and backed me down the stairs.

"I am the god of lies. It is what I do. But not to you." He was pleading at this point. "Never to you." The scepter was gone from his hands and the helmet off his head with the flick of a wrist. I watched Loki with tears in my eyes. "Never to you." Loki whispered as he hugged me and pretended to protect me from the world. When he fell, I knew that was all a lie too.

Angels and devils always fight over me
Take me to heaven wake me up from this dream
Even in sunlight clouds shadow over me
It's now or never wake me up from this dream

I protected Midgard with Thor. It became my second home. The one that wasn't painful to return to. The one without memories of him. I attempted to move on but he had left his mark. I was his whether I liked it or not. I worked with the Iron Man, Tony Stark. He was kind. I helped him keep the world safe and he helped me stay under the radar of SHIELD. I helped him with the building of Stark Tower. When the news of a team of superheroes came around, Tony asked me to join him. I agreed, not knowing what I was getting into. When I learned, Tony wouldn't let me back out. I knew I couldn't fight Loki. There were too many feelings that remained. Too many memories to keep me close to him. We had known each other a long time. I didn't know if I could face him again.

I fell in love with the devil
And now I'm in trouble
I fell in love with the devil
I'm underneath his spell
Someone send me an angel
To lend me a halo
I fell in love with the devil
Please save me from this hell

No one expected it. Not the Avengers. Not me and certainly not Loki. I insisted on going in to Stuttgart first. I figured a god versus a god. Thor was nowhere to be found so I thought I was the next best thing. I walked into the ballroom and looked up. I could always sense where he was. I saw him and I knew he had seen me. I could see his smirk even from where I stood. I turned around and went back to the party, keeping my eye out for what he would do. When the screaming started, I stood my ground and watched him. I knew I should act but I didn't. When Loki had gotten what he wanted, he walked over to me, backing me up and almost out the door.

"Long time no see love." He sneered. I held my head high and kept eye contact with his even if I was quickly falling under his spell again. "Did you mourn?" He asked, catching the black locks braided into my own (H/C) hair. His eyes fell to my wrist, where the runes spelling his name were. I gulped and tried to stand my ground. I had been quick to embrace the traditions mourning the dead while Thor had taken his time. The remnants of those traditions still remained.

"You know I did. We were married Loki. One does not forget a thousand years, give or take, so easily." I answered. His gaze fell to the ring still on my finger. I almost swore I saw a glimpse of sadness in his eyes. I had been smart and turned off my coms before the mission. Confident I could talk to him without the Avengers butting in I continued. "Thor mourned too. Frigga mourned." Loki's eyes softened at the name of his mother.

"Did Odin?" He asked. I let out a huff of air.

"He tried to bury you." I replied. Loki rolled his eyes. "I resurrected you." He looked at me confused. I held up my hand. "I kept you with me always." I touched the lock of his hair in mine. "I gave myself over to you." I showed him his name on my wrist. "I never forgot you." I showed him the ring still on my finger. "No matter what Loki, I am yours." Loki smirked.

Dig deep six feet
Dig deep it's killing me
I fell in love with the devil
Dig deep six feet
And now I'm in trouble
I fell in love with the devil
Dig deep
It's killing me

By the time Captain America and the rest of the Avengers had shown up, Loki and I were dressed in our Asgardian armor and Loki had the crowd kneeling at our feet. "Is this not simpler? Is this not your natural state?" Loki leered as he walked around the crowd. "It's the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation." Loki looked over at me with a smirk. I smiled back at him knowingly. "The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity." Loki stood by my side, wrapping an arm around my waist. His eyes found mine and a smile spread across his face. "You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel." With that he pulled me in for a kiss that would seal my fate: Standing by his side for the rest of time.
