I walked into the room to see Richard standing in front of a mirror, staring at his hands. I saw them shaking as he clenched his fists and looked up. He saw me in the mirror and gave me a weak smile that gave away something was wrong.
"Rich..." I started.
"Don't." He said. I looked at him confused. "We'll be late for our reservations." I nodded and took his offered hand. He led me out to the limo that was waiting out front and held the door open as he always did. We got in and I laid my head on his shoulder.
"Whatever it is rich you can tell me." I whispered and put my hand on his other shoulder. I quickly curled into him and his arm wrapped around my waist.
"I know. It's nothing though. Probably just me over thinking things." He whispered back and kissed the top of my head. I nodded and figured I'd bring it up again later. We arrived at the restaurant and Richard offered me his arm as we walked in. It was our anniversary and he wanted to recreate the night that he had asked me out. Everything was the same right down to the clothes that we wore and the table we had sat at. He held out my chair for me just like he had that first night.
"Seems like just yesterday we were here." I said looking around.
"And I asked you out." Richard said with a smile. I nodded and smiled back at him. Time flew as we went through the dinner. We were out on the balcony as we had been that first night and all alone. Richard stood up and I started to as well until he held up a hand. This had happened that night too. "I know we've been together for about a year now and all of this is exactly the way it had been that night. Which is why I want to ask you this tonight. I love you. More than life itself. And I can't imagine a life without you. So I'm not even going to try. I want to look forward to waking up next to you for the rest of my life and I want to look forward to coming home to you after filming. I want to have a family with you and I want to grow old with you. So..." Richard trailed off and got down on one knee in front of me. He held up a ring with a diamond set into a band of silver. "Will you marry me?" My eyes went wide as I recalled the speech he had given me that night he had asked me out. It was so similar yet so different. I couldn't speak and tears were falling down my face.
"Yes rich. Yes." I whispered when I had finally found my voice. I flung my arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. He pulled away to kiss me and then put the ring on my finger. "That's what." He whispered and kissed me again.
