"Dr. Wells!" I called as I raced towards the cortex. "I figured it out!" Dr. Wells looked up at me from his spot in front of the computers.

"Yes thank you Miss (Y/L/N). But as you can see, you came up with the answer too late. While you were busy playing around with numbers, Mr. Allen almost died. So maybe next time, you would be able to be here helping us instead of locking yourself away to play with your numbers." Harrison Wells all but yelled. He was calm, which sometimes scared you more than when he was yelling.

"I'm sorry Dr. Wells." I said as I hung my head.

"Don't be sorry. Do better." he said as he turned away and left the cortex.

"Don't worry about him. He's just under a lot of stress from trying to help Barry." Caitlin said. I nodded.

"I know Cait. Doesn't change the fact that he's right." I said as I left the cortex. I went back to my workshop and continued working on a way to keep the metas locked up once we got them in the pipeline. I lost track of time as I put equation after equation on the board. I sighed as I gave up on the current equation and sat down at my desk. I jumped when there was a knock on my door.

"(Y/N)?" I flinched at the voice.

"Yes Dr. Wells?" I asked without turning around.

"I wanted to apologize for my words earlier." He said. I laughed.

"Why apologize for something that's true?" I asked as I finally turned around. He raised an eyebrow at me. "I should have been in the cortex, not down here. Something worse could have happened to Barry in the time it took to get from here to the cortex. Or if I hadn't figured it out." I paused. Dr. Wells just looked at me. "I shouldn't be here. I should never have gotten this job."

"Don't say that (Y/N)." Wells said.

"Why? Why did you hire me, knowing my anxiety made it hard for me to work with others? Why? Especially when you are...." I stopped.

"When I'm what?" Wells asked, already knowing the answer.

"You." I said with a wave of my hand. Wells looked down at his lap. When he looked back up at me, his eyes were shining.

"Because I foresaw great things from you." He replied. Wells reached up and took off his glasses. He reached out to grab my hand and pulled me close.

"(Y/N). I hired you because you are smart. Almost as smart as me. And if I didn't think you could handle this I would never have hired you." Tears welled up in my eyes. "And I'll let you in on a little secret." He leaned in towards me. "I would rather you were by my side than anywhere else." I blushed as he reached up to wipe my tears.

"Really?" I asked. Wells nodded.

"Really." He leaned over and kissed my cheek. "Keep working. You'll get it. I know you will." I blushed and nodded as he left the room.

"Gideon, pull up the paper." Wells said as he stood up from the chair.

"Yes Dr. Wells." the AI said. A paper was pulled up showing the Flash had disappeared.

"Not that paper Gideon." Wells said. The paper changed to show an obituary for you. "Has anything changed Gideon?" he asked.

"I'm sorry Dr. Wells. Nothing has changed." Wells looked up at the picture of you and tried to hold back his tears.

"I'm going to save you (Y/N). Even if it kills me trying." He ran his hand down his face. "Or if it ruins my other plans."
