Two Hundred Three

My first class of the day was care of magical creatures

"Make up an excuse for us" Ron suggested this morning during breakfast

"Absolutely not" I said back "you can explain to him why you didn't take his class"

"We don't want to hurt his feelings" Hermione said

"Too bad, I'm going to class and not making any excuse up for you three. If you want to make something up, you can talk to him yourself" I grabbed my book bag

"Hello Cora, the rest showing up soon" Hagrid said when I approached his hut

"No sorry Hagrid just me" I said placing my bag down
Fang walked up to me and I began petting him

"Oh" he said looking at his paper, he crumbled it up "well that's good I suppose now we can study whatever you like!" He said cheery

I smiled
"Dragons?"

He smiled back
"Dragons it is"

We spent the entire class talking about different dragon breeds and what I learned over the summer
"Charlie is a great mentor" I said

"Charlie was my best student, beside's you of course. I'm glad you kept my class in your regimen"

"Even if you weren't my teacher I would have, it's just better having you here to teach me things. I wish I could have brought Cor, Charlie told me you tried tricking me into bringing her here"

Hagrid passed me a cup of tea
"Well...it would have been nice having a dragon again..."

"Trust me I would have loved to have her here too, I feel off when she's not around" I clutched my dragon scales "but with these I feel like I'm still connect to them"

My next class of the day was Defense class
A class I usually sat with Draco in, but when I walked in Pansy was already sitting beside him
I should have guessed that...she's been very close to him and he told me I couldn't talk to him

It still hurt not being able to sit with Draco this year
I sat beside Hermione, the last to arrive to class were Harry and Ron who sat behind us

"Figured you'd be sitting with Draco no?" Harry said

I turned to him
"Clearly my spot is taken"

Harry rolled his eyes
I ignored his antics and focused back on the front of the class

I tried to not read Draco's emotions but it was so hard to avoid it now that I was constantly worried and he wasn't talking to me
I'm so itchy

Hermione noticed I was itching a lot and grabbed my hand
"Turn it off" she whispered to me

I nodded my head and turned off emotions for now
Snape walked into the class room right as the bell went off

"Today we are practicing nonverbals. I will chose your partners" he said glaring at the class "Weasley with Goyle"
Ron got out of his chair and met with Goyle on the opposite side of the classroom
"Granger with Crabbe, Potter with Malfoy, Lupin with Parkinson" the list went on until everyone in the class was paired up with someone in the opposing house

I looked at Pansy and she was smirking that ugly smile she always holds
"I'm so ready for this" she said chuckling

"You know what...me too" I said smirking back

"Nonverbals, wands away Longbottom" he said
I looked over and Neville awkwardly put his wand on his table
"If I hear anyone use a spell it's detention, begin"

Pansy thought she could get me while I was distracted, but unlike her I took actual classes last year
I turned just in time for her to send a spell using her wand at me
I moved out of the way and then sent one back to her, an actual nonverbal like Charlie taught me over the summer

She went flying back into the wall
It brought an awful amount of satisfaction seeing her drag herself up the wall and straighten her hair
"Sorry" I said smirking "my mistake I thought you'd be a better opponent"

I noticed her hand shaking angrily
She walked forward until she was inches from my face
"Jealous because I have Draco now?" She whispered "his parents actually approve of us, they wanted us together. You'd never get his family's approval"

"I don't need it" I said back to her
I used another nonverbal, this time I jinxed her hair to fall out

I looked around the class room and most of the students used this time to attack one another as well
Draco and Harry brought the most attention, unfortunately for Harry that is
Snape noticed he pulled out his wand during their battle

"Detention with me Potter" Snape said "20 points from Gryffindor"

"Yes" Harry said agitated

"Yes sir" Snape replied

"You don't have to call me sir, Professor" Harry said

I put my hand over my mouth to cover my laughter

Snape turned around and glared at Harry
"How about another, this Saturday night first try out of the season sound good to the new captain?"

Harry stopped talking after that
I looked at Draco and he looked bored with class, not like usual though
Like he had more on his mind than this
Pansy noticed my view and threw a spell at me with her wand
I went flying back into Hermione who was being tossed back by Crabbe
Except unlike Harry, neither of them got detention

"No wands" Snape reminded them

I stood up and helped Hermione up as well
I looked at Pansy and she was chuckling with her stupid friend
I noticed Draco flinched when I hit the ground, as if he wanted to come help me but he stopped himself

I sent another nonverbal to Pansy, this time I jinxed her speech
Everytime she tried talking it came out backwards

Hermione laughed with me

"10 points from Gryffindor for the tacky jinxes Lupin" Snape said

"She did what you told her to do why is she getting point docked?" Ron said annoyed

"10 more points for talking back, anyone else?" Snape threatened

I rolled my eyes but stayed silent
I didn't want to have to spend any extra time with Snape
