Tryouts had come
Harry was able to switch with Hufflepuff, having tryouts at night worked better for them their captain said

Harry held tryouts for every position, though I knew he would pick Katy Ron and myself again I did my part in trying out for the role
Chaser's went first, it was important to give us the most tryout time
We needed to work together as a team, so Katy and I had to be sure we found the right third

After our tryouts came keepers
"Beautiful day isn't it?" A voice said beside me
I looked over and saw it was Cormac McLaggen, a tall dirty blonde 7th year

"Suppose it is" I said blandly

"So...Hermione have a boyfriend?" He asked staring at her in the stands
She was reading her book paying as little attention as she could to our tryouts
She was here mostly for support like years before

"She doesn't, but she's very uninterested" I said glaring at him

"Well how about yourself? Got a boyfriend still? Who was it Fred or Draco? I hear Neville's in that mix now too, Blaise...man the list just goes on"
His smirk was enough to make me want to jinx him, lucky for him our wands were kept off the field during tryouts

I rolled my eyes
"I'm single, and even if I wasn't you'd be the very bottom of my list"

"You know my favorite position is bottom"

I pretended to vomit into my hands

"Keepers line up" Harry called out

"Wish me luck, though I don't need it. The only other one is Ron and well he played pretty poorly last year" Cormac said "if you guys don't want to lose games you'll pick me"

"Ron will smoke you by a long shot" I said "he played for us last year, you have to be really awful to not get picked again"

"We will see" he winked at me and then stared at Hermione waiting for her to look back at him but she didn't

Ginny walked up to me after Cormac left
"Boy trouble this year?"

"I wish Fred was here, even if we're not together he would have set him straight. I don't have trouble doing that myself, but sometimes it's nice when someone else takes care of it"

"Want me to?" She said flexing her arms

"No" I laughed "I thought you did well as a beater but I can see why you want to be a chaser instead"

"Why's that?"

"You're fast, I like that" I said smiling at her "you me and Katy are going to kill it this year"

"If I get picked"

"As if Harry won't pick you, he is your boyfriend"

"I told him I didn't want that giving me an advantage...but I would kick his ass if he didn't pick me"

"I would too" I smirked

Harry picked his new team and posted the results early in the morning
He caught us up last night about what Dumbledore met him for
They were doing work to prepare him against Voldemort, but apparently Harry had a job to do that involves Slughorn
He couldn't tell us much details, but he said it's going to be difficult so he needs to get as close as he can to the potion's teacher

His new team is
Katy myself and Ginny as the chasers
Himself as seeker
Ron as a keeper
Jimmy Peaks and Ritchie Coote as the beaters
The only two who were able to defend correctly, so I was pleased with the results
Mostly excited that Cormac wasn't involved on our team, I told Harry he was annoying and he agreed
Cormac's only goal was to get on the team to get closer to Hermione and I, at least that's what Harry told me

"Fuck Cormac" Ron said "he's such a git"

I looked down the table and saw he was staring at Hermione and I
He winked when I made eye contact
I sent him back my middle finger

"Why because he's flirting with Hermione?" I said looking back at Ron

We were all eating breakfast together
I looked at Draco's table before I sat down and he wasn't there again
He's been skipping meals I noticed, and some classes as well

"No because he's a git" he said getting red "but I don't care for that reason either"

Hermione's face was turning red, but she was trying to stay focused on her research

"We're going to have a good year for quidditch, I'm excited to play with Katy and Ginny"

"We just have to worry about the new beaters" Harry said "I'm not sure about them"

"Well compared to Fred and George they won't be good" Ron said

"I'm already expecting to be in the hospital wing a lot" I said eating my fruit salad "they're good but not strong enough to withstand bludger attacks again and again. It'll take time for us all to get used to how we work"

"Let's hope it's figured out before the first game. We have practice every other night ok?"

I nodded my head along with Ginny and Ron

"You going to Slughorn's party next week?" I asked Harry

"I have makeup detention, so unfortunately I'll have to skip. I need to get close to Slughorn so skipping a meeting is actually annoying. Especially when it's to be with Snape"

"Maybe you shouldn't have talked back to him" Hermione said

"Well can't change it now" Harry said annoyed
