Two Hundred Twelve

  "So" Hermione said adding her half of the ingredients into the cauldron "peaches are pretty popular today"

  "Seems that way" I said "you know who I noticed smells like mint a lot?"
She pinched my leg under the table
I let out a small wince
  "Mint mint mint hmmm" I said again

She pinched me harder this time I yelped
I noticed a few students looked my way now including Neville Harry Ron and Draco

  "You ok Cora?" Hermione asked maniacally

  "Fine thanks" I said rubbing my leg where she pinched me

  "Dont you dare finish that sentence" she threatened me "or else" she made a pinching motion in the air

I threw my hands up
  "Ok ok I won't"

  "Good, apples huh? I wouldn't have guessed apples I would have assumed something woodsy" she said looking at Draco who was back to working on his potion "I suppose I've never been close enough to him to notice"

  "I don't know what you mean, he hates me"

She rolled her eyes
  "I know what Fred smells like, fireworks would have been the answer if it was him. I know you love him Cora" she whispered "and by the way he said peaches I know he loves you too but—"

  "Dont please. Don't tell me how things have changed and how it's impossible for us to be together right now. Don't tell me that, I don't want to hear about how I can't even talk to one of my best friends because he's ignoring me"

  "He was ignoring you definitely but something has changed. He used to never look over here but today he's been looking a lot...Cora just promise me if those idiots" she said pointing to Harry and Ron who were using Harry's book to cheat "are right about him you will stay away"

I looked from her to Draco
  "I can't promise that"

Class ended
Hermione and I were second to Harry and Ron's potion
They created it just seconds before us, cheating of course but they won us house points
Hermione was still agitated from losing to them

  "I'm burning that book" she said grabbing her bag

  "You won't go anywhere near our book" Ron said

  "Our book?" Harry questioned

  "Well yeah mate we're partners in potions it's ours" he said

Harry laughed
  "I'll see you all later I have something I need to discuss with Slughorn"

I left the classroom with Ron and Hermione but I waited just outside of it for Neville
Draco was still inside the classroom too, I noticed it took him longer to get out. Some how he kept dropping his quills on the ground, or his book was missing and he had to search each desk for it
I'm sure he's waiting to hear what Neville has to say
Part of me smiled at his jealousy, but the other side of me knew no one would be flirting with me in the first place if we were together publicly

  "Thanks for waiting" he said smiling "would you like a piece of chocolate? You like these don't you?" He asked passing me a bark of dark chocolate

  "I do" I said taking it "thank you"

  "You're welcome" he started to blush slightly
I looked in the potion's room and saw Harry talking to Slughorn
I looked for Draco and saw he was tying his shoes
  "Can I ask you something?"

  "What's on your mind?" I asked looking from Draco to Neville

He took my hand into his
  "A Hogsmeade trip is coming up and I was wondering if I could take you out that day...like on a date"
He rubbed my hand softly
  "I've liked you for a while but you were with Fred and now that you're not well...will you go on a date with me?"

I felt my throat fill with bitterness, when I looked at Draco he was staring icily at Neville
  "Uh" I said
When I looked back at Neville I saw that his body was sweating profusely
  "Are you ok?" 

  "Is it hot in here?" He asked taking his collar and loosening it up "it's really really hot all of a sudden"

I looked at Draco who was smirking
  "Do you need to go to Madame Pomfrey?"

  "No no" he said taking off his cloak "it's just so hot"

Draco got off the ground now and walked towards us
He shoulder checked Neville

  "You better watch it Malfoy" Neville said

Draco turned and glared at him
  "Maybe you should fix your sweating problem before you try coming for me"

I realized it then, Draco had used a nonverbal jinx on him when he started flirting with me
I wasn't sure what jinx it was, but he was almost bright red now and burning up
I didn't even know Draco could use nonverbals this well

  "Cora's going with me to Hogsmeade this weekend" he blurted out
I stared at him dumbfounded

  "I didn't agree to that" I said to Neville
I felt annoyed that he threw that in Draco's face as if I agreed already

Draco's eyes were iced over, his emotions were filled with jealousy
Jealousy was new for me, or maybe I've never noticed it before but it made me feel ice cold
A different kind of cold than I normally was, this made my throat freeze
I felt like I could see my breath if I tried breathing right now
"Really?" He said sadisticly "what are you going to do? Skip around in the snow and tell her about your plans to live with your grandmum for the rest of your life? Real winner here Cora"

"No im going to do this" he turned towards me and pulled me into his chest, he kissed me
His kiss was so...awkward. It was wet from his sweating and it had no passion in it at all
It lasted only a few seconds, not long enough for me to react but long enough for Draco to

He grabbed Neville off of me and shoved him into the wall
"That's it, you're dead" he said choking him

Before I could break them up, Snape had come around the corner and grabbed Draco off of Neville
"What are you doing??" He demanded

Draco shoved Snape off of him
"Don't interfere"

Snape grabbed Draco again
He whispered something in his ear and shoved him along the hallway
Draco didn't look back, he just kept walking in front of Snape but I could feel his anger still

I looked at Neville
"What the fuck was that about??" My voice carried through the hallway, gaining looks from passing students

He wasn't sweating anymore
"I don't know what came over me...he just makes me so mad I'm sorry Cora" he backed away from me "I really am, I didn't mean to act like that"

"my answer is no by the way" I grabbed my bag from the ground and walked towards the great hall
