Two Hundred Twenty Four

I should have known he would be placed next to me
His name is right next to mine
Lupin
L is before M and U is the last of the group for those in my letter group
Malfoy
His name is first in the M group

His circle was right next to mine, my stupid heart fluttered seeing him beside me
I could feel his stare, but it wasn't for long
When I looked his way he was already staring at the front of the hallway
Blaise ended the list and now everyone was ready to apparate

The instructor reminded us of the Apparation rules
Destination, Determination and Deliberation
I didn't need to hear this information, I knew I was going to pass this class

"If we are all ready...apparate to this end of the hallway" he pointed to circles he had created on the opposite side of the room

I closed my eyes and imagined what the circle looked like
I didn't concentrate too hard, since successfully traveling loads of time I knew exactly what to do
I opened my eyes and made myself apparate, but when I did I sneezed
I lost my focus, I could tell I messed up with my Apparation before I even landed

I traveled on the circle that I was matched with, but my arm was in so much pain
I clutched it and fell to the ground
I heard a set of footsteps walk my way
"Yup we have our first splinch" he said to the class, as if he was showing off my failure

"Fuck" I said annoyed
I never splinched myself when I apparated with Charlie this is stupid

I heard Apparations happening around me, only a few were successful
One of them being Draco
He didn't come to my side like I wanted him to
He didn't ask if I was ok
"Can't do anything right can you Lupin" he said to me instead

I looked up at him
His face was cold, his emotions were scattered i couldn't pick up on any specific one for whatever reason
It made my head spin
I clutched my head, closing off emotions from the room
I noticed everyone's was all over no one had a single emotion

My arm was twitching and bleeding through my uniform
"Well we only have one to deal with" the ministry worker said
Almost like it inconvenienced him to have to deal with an injury
"Guess we will take you to Madame Pomfrey" he waved over a second worker who was here for backup, in times of splinches

"I'll go alone" I said pushing myself off the floor
Hermione apparated behind me successfully but neither of the boys did

She went to my side
"I'll go with you"
Her face read concern but another person I couldn't get a reading on

"Sorry Miss...?"

"Granger"

"Miss.Granger we aren't through with class, she goes with my partner or goes alone whatever she prefers" He shrugged his shoulders "makes no difference to me"

I got up completely and left without a word to Hermione or Draco
Not like I would have been able to say anything to him
"Best of luck!" The worker said waving his hand

My walk to Madame Pomfrey was longer than usual
I felt so weak from being sick, being splinched I didn't know which was worse
When I arrived at the hospital wing she escorted me to a bed that was open on the further left side
"No one escorted you here??" She said annoyed "you have the wizard Flu dear you can't apparate with it. The flu is going to mess with all your senses"

I didn't say anything
I assumed it was a normal sickness, but the longer I have it the more I notice it's not normal
I suppose this is the reason I couldn't read emotions

"It'll last a few days, which is as long as it'll take me to heal your arm. Get comfortable you won't be moving much" she had two set of potions for me

I laid down after taking the medicine she handed me
Part of me didn't care if she helped me, I knew that was depression creeping in again
"I'll letter your Father about this" she said to me as of that would cheer me up "I'm sure he'll be here in the morning"
I laughed, knowing he wouldn't be

Later that night I couldn't sleep
My arm was seizing up from reattaching it's nerves and my body was too busy fighting the flu I got
Hermione had come to visit me, Harry and Ron did too
"How'd you do it so well?" He asked Hermione who was reading beside me

"I just listened to what he had to say and did it" she said nonchalantly "Cora has traveled by Apparation plenty of times before, she can do it just fine too"

"Yeah well I got splinched today" I said defeated

"You're sick that's why. The ministry worker said even though you were hurt it was a successful jump, he isn't going to fault you for being sick. Next class if you jump to the circle like you did today you'll pass like I did. Ron and Harry will end up needing to take his second set of class after the holiday no doubt"

"Thanks for the confidence in us" Ron said slouching

The doors to the hospital wing opened, my heart did a stupid dance thinking my stupid love life would walk in to see me
But Draco didn't
Neville came in instead
I slouched further into my bed, hoping he was here for the other 10 empty beds

"How are you feeling?" He came over and asked me

Hermione went back to her book, Harry and Ron shared a look fo each other

I didn't answer

"I brought you flowers" he said placing the vase on the end of my bed

"Thanks" I let out

He sat down to my dislike and started talking to my friends about his dislike for the class
"Cora got severely injured we shouldn't be learning this yet" he said as if we would agree with him

"I'm sick that's why I got injured" I couldn't even defend myself properly, not like I could tell Neville I've already apparated

"Don't worry about it Cora" he placed his hand on my leg, I glared at it "if you and I don't successfully compete the class it's still alright"

Harry and Ron shared another look, one they shared with me this time
The look read is this git for real

I laid awake the entire night, I waited for Draco to come see me
Second night here I thought he would definitely show
Third night here I was convinced he would be here
I wasn't sure who hurt me more not visiting
My dad
Or my best friend

The third night did bring me with company, apparently someone tried slipping Harry love potion in chocolates but Ron ate it instead
Harry brought Ron to Slughorn to cure him of the potion but instead of being cured he got poisoned
Harry's quick thinking found some bezoar and stuffed it down his throat saving Ron's life
When they arrived in the hospital wing I pretended to be asleep, I didn't want company at this point and didn't care if they acknowledged me

"Ron you're family will be here in the morning" Madame Pomfrey said
I knew when she told him his family would show, they actually would
Meaning Fred would show up tomorrow...

If I couldn't sleep before I definitely cant now
Madame Pomfrey told me I had this last night to be in the hospital wing
If I could get our early enough I could avoid Fred
Even though it would be nice to feel comforted and loved on, he wasn't who I wanted that attention from
