One Hundred Fifty Nine

  "Harry you had detention with Umbridge, how'd it go?" I asked
Fred and George left to go prank some students along with Lee
I told them it was ok to go, Fred hesitated but I'm with Hermione Harry and Ron I told him I'd be alright

Harry looked up from his textbook and showed me his hand
"She has a blood quill, whatever she makes you write it marks your skin...detention with her is the worst but it's manageable after the first half"

I choked on my tea
"Blood quill?? That's—"

"Illegal" Hermione said annoyed "we said the same when Harry came back with his mark"

"What does it say?" I looked at his hand, all I could see was bruised skin now

"I must not tell lies. She claimed Voldemort wasn't back, and that I didn't face him in the graveyard. She also said you were running away, not kidnapped by Yaxley and that you were just a troubled rebel teenager...I couldn't take her saying any of it so I stood up against her"

"She's the worst" Ron added "bloody awful"

"I haven't even had class yet and I'm already being punished" I said defeated

"At least Draco will be there too, you won't be alone" Hermione said

"Has Draco said anything about his family" Harry asked

I raised my eyebrows towards him
"No, he never mentioned his family in his letters why"

"His father was at the graveyard. I know you saw him too...he's—"

"If you're going to say dangerous don't bother. Draco wouldn't hurt me, or put me in danger"

"We know that" Hermione said eyeing Harry "Harry is just being protective"

"I don't need it, not when it comes to him" I packed my textbooks away and sighed "what do you think she'll have me write?"

"Something awful I'm sure" Hermione said "want me to walk you there?"

"No it's ok, I won't do anything stupid I promise" I placed my bag next to Hermione "see you all in an hour"

I began walking to the Defense classroom
The halls were filled with students laughing and exchanging notes from class
I saw Professor McGonagall on the way to my detention
"Hello Professor"

"Hello Miss.Lupin, are you ok?" She asked sweetly

"Yes, better now that I've had time with my friends again"

"Good, Dumbledore wanted me to tell you he talked to Professor Trewlawny and she would like to train you in the art of closing your mind. If you're interested she can meet you Monday after class"

"Yes, tell her I will see her then" I smiled

McGonagall put her hand on my shoulder
"Be careful with Umbridge...she isn't like the rest of us"

I nodded my head and continued my walk to the classroom
I saw Draco waiting outside of it

I couldn't help but smile when he looked my way
He smiled back, brightly
"Hello Cora" he said walking to meet me halfway

I inspected his face before I let him hug me
"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, don't worry about me...I'm worried about you though" he said losing his smile
His warmth turned metallic

"I will explain everything after class ok? I promise, I'm sorry about the summer...I really meant to come see you before it began"

"It's ok, my house has been...hectic and well I'll talk to you about it after class as well"

We heard a voice clearing their throat
When we both looked we saw Umbridge tapping her foot on the ground
"Tardy on your first detention??"

Draco took my hand into his and walked with me towards her classroom
She waited for us to both go in, but she stopped Draco after he let me passed
"What are you doing?" She asked

"Serving detention?" He said snarky

I chuckled

"Did you not read your fathers letter? You're excused from detentions, you'll just have to do something later on for me is the deal" she said

I looked at Draco

"I don't want to be excused from them. I'll serve my detentions" he said trying to go passed her but she put her hand in front of him

"You will go back to your dorm"

"No" he said

I put my hand on Draco's shoulder
"It's ok Draco I'll see you after"

"I'd rather my father stay out of my business here" he said annoyed

I felt his emotions and hers flow into me
He was annoyed but she was getting angry
"That is something to take up with him not I. Now if you'll excuse us" she said using her wand to push him away from the door
She slammed the door on his face and walked to the front of the classroom

My dad's decorations were still the best this school has seen
Moody's was well...Barty's was distributing
Hers is just...tacky

"Sit in my office" she said walking towards her door

I followed her and when she opened the door I was assault with pink decor everywhere
It was almost bright enough to need sunglasses

"Now sit" she said

I looked at the chair
It was attached to a table, with a parchment laying on it with a quill beside it
Don't let her see you squirm
You've been through worse

"What will I be doing this hour?"

"Lines" she said sitting down

I sat down as well
I took the quill into my hand and felt disgusting
Knowing this quill has caused at least Harry to bleed and now me...made me uneasy
I placed it back down, not wanting any extra time with it

I swallowed my words and waited for her command

"You will be writing I shall not distract boys"

I rolled my eyes

"Want to make it a second detention tomorrow?"
This was a power trip for her
She thrived off of it
I felt her emotions, bitterness
Is she ever not bitter

"How many times?"

"Until the hour is done" she took out papers and began grading them
I picked up the quill again and started writing my lines

My hand itched, when I looked down I could see words forming
My skin was beginning to bruise around the words as well
This isn't the worst

Again and again until I had a trail of blood leading down my hand and onto the table
Until I felt nothing
At least Harry was right about that...half way through I felt nothing
Just watched my blood pour down my hand
