Chapter 124: A Tamer's Floral Memories

*KIRITO'S POV*

October 4th, 2024, a month before Floor 75 was cleared.

Silica and I had been spending the morning together, she asked me here under the pretence that we celebrate the fact that me and the others on the Front Lines had cleared the 73rd Boss just a few hours ago. But I knew better, thanks to the quiz she had given me earlier on this year when we last met up, and from it I was able to figure out that it was actually her Birthday today.

... Although, why did I have to figure it out? Doesn't our little friend group all celebrate each other's birthdays regardless of the Taboo that the rest of the players in this world consider it to be?

Actually, I don't think we've ever celebrated Silica's birthday as a group before, have we...?

U/N: "Happy Birthday Ruperta!"

Although U/N already seemingly knew that it was her birthday today, they came running as soon as they were done with the Dungeon that they had been mapping out to come meet her. 

I suppose it makes sense that they already knew it was her birthday, right? They talk about all sorts of real life stuff like that together after all, don't they?

Silica: "Hmph! Y-You know that's not my username!"

Silica and I had just left the restaurant where the two of us had lunch together, and where I gave her the Ring of Angel's Whisper as a present for her birthday. 

Silica seemed a little forlorn that U/N wasn't here to celebrate with us, so I told her to try tracking them to see if they were out of the dungeon yet. Turns out they had just arrived on the 35th Floor: the same one we were on! And now the two of them had just reunited and Silica had practically leapt into U/N's arms when they finally came into view.

U/N: "I know, I know! Happy Birthday Silica! How's it been so far?"

Silica: "It's been nice, Kirito has been spending his day with me."

Kirito: "You don't have to say it like that! I've been enjoying today as well you know!"

U/N: "Well, I'm glad the two of you have been having fun! I'll send you my mapping from that dungeon later Kirito. It's a doozy of a space, and I'm sure Argo'll charge a hefty fee when she realises it!"

Kirito: "Oh? Sounds like fun, thanks for letting me leech off of you like this, it really saves me so much Col!"

U/N: "No worries, I might ask you for a favour later this Floor though, if that's okay?"

Kirito: "Sure, anything you need bud! Say, I'm going to head off for now. You too have fun, and Happy Birthday again Silica!"

Silica: "Thanks Kirito, today was fun. And thank you again for the present!"

U/N: "Speak to you soon Kirito, and cheers!"

I smile at the two of them and start making my way towards the Teleport Gate to head back to the front lines.

I'm glad Silica has someone like U/N that she can rely on as often as she needs, I do try. But I just can't juggle the commitments of the front lines alongside seeing my lower-levelled friends as often as U/N does... and they have even more friends down here than I do! The best I can do is the monthly messages that me and Silica send between us.
