--------------------

The breeze was warm as it filled the insides of the car where you had sat for at least an hour maybe more since you dozed off unprofessionally. The sun was blazing, cracking the earth with the minimal hydration it had to begin with. Kicking up rocks and dust in the tracks behind the military vehicle you sat lazily in. It wasn't your ideal vacation spot but it was definitely a change of scenery then your usual big city you were so used to seeing. Being sent out here with your partner Chris to find Sheva that was a member of the South American branch of the B.S.A.A in order to deal with another bioterrorism spot that was located not too long ago.

At this point in time you just wanted to try and relax, knowing these jobs weren't as easy as you would have liked. Especially after just finishing your last mission not even 5 days ago to be sent out once more. You loved your job, you loved helping people and preventing anything from happening to countries that scum decided to destroy with viruses. It made you feel like you had a purpose in your life when you worked. But that still didn't mean you liked to work all the time without a break.

Your eyes winced as they slowly opened up to the bright sun in your gaze. Hissing at the sudden light as you shifted your back in order to stay in the shade some. Flipping your sun glasses down over your eyes quickly as you let the slight flashes of light subside from staring at the sun just for a second. Your feet were still secure as they rested on top of the dash for comfort. Uncrossing your arms to find indents where your skin pressed against your vest. Taking in a long breath you glanced back over to your partner behind the wheel. He seemed so focused on the road as once hand held the stirring wheel while the other was placed upon your thigh as he drove.

As soon as you both got off the plane he has been driving with out a wink of sleep. Looking like something was on his mind as he focused on the road a head of him. To be fair he said he could drive you both there the rest of the way without hesitation. Probably because you couldn't get good sleep on a plane and he could for a little while. But you still felt bad watching him drive after this long, knowing you had a good nap in between getting in here and traveling.

He worried you, something you would never admit but he really did worry you some times. Knowing him for years since you were in S.T.A.R.S together, he was like you best friend. Knowing him like the back of your hand easily and you knew when there was something bothering him. This sudden mood flip started to happen after his mission failed and he had lost Jill. Comforting him as best you could when her funeral had came and passed. Almost as if you had to stay strong for the both of you for a little while until he got back on his feet. From that point on he was spaced out more often, stubborn and serious as ever. But he always seemed to stay quiet when something was bothering him and you hated it. Learning which expressions he made when something was running through the gears of his mind. Whether it be staring off in to space or overthinking about something. You knew when the cogs were turning more then usual and this was one of those times easily.

"Chris?" You suddenly asked, acting as if you had just woken up even though it was a minute ago you decided to wake up from your slumber. You moved your hand under your glasses and rubbed the crease of your eye as you watched him glance over at you with a startled expression that faded into a warm grin within seconds. His hand on your thigh gripped slightly from the sudden break from his thoughts.

"Oh you're awake sweetheart, I hadn't realized you woke up from your nap already" He replied, his attention back on the road already from you. With a small roll of your eyes you decided to remove your legs from the dashboard. Stiff and aching from not moving them for the longest time. You stifled out a painful groan as you stretched. A scared expression never left your face as you held your legs for a second as if it would help the pain subside.
