A sigh escaped your chapped lips as you trudged through the snowy woods. Passing the gate no one dared to enter way behind you now as if a constant reminder of how far you had to run to escape this place. Sick and tired of the restraints of the village walls you wanted to visit some place new was what you kept telling yourself. A place foreign to others as the ground has only been stepped on by one of the lord's they feared so dearly. Though in your mind their fear made them weak of what was out there. Constantly following Mother Miranda's orders and lifestyle day in and day out. It made you sick to see how devoted they were to her, brainwashed in a way as they constantly looked to her for the way forward when they should be doing that on their own. Some of the towns people you actually liked started to have the same mind set like you on everything. People you thought you could trust up until someone ratted them out to mother Miranda that they were unfaithful and executed for their crimes against the lords. Forcing you to keep your trap shut and stay away from everyone in fear that they would turn you in as well.

Mist left your lips as you breathed out, continuing to walk forward with your bow out in your grasp and ready to fire. Hoping this could be a better spot for the hunt instead of the village walls with the Lycans attacking livestock as of recently. The monsters everyone feared and just let them do whatever they pleased even though they only came around every once in a while.

The Duke gave you directions to this place after you told him your tale of hardship with hunting. No venison, no rabbit, no squirrel. Nothing shot or captured by you to give to him since the Lycans came round more and more often then you had liked. Your only source of income at this point with your parents gone and no job for you in the village besides making clothes like the women have told you. He has been a great business partner and a good friend to you as you turned your life to hunting and isolation from others in the town. Knowing it was a matter of time before they figured out your mindset and set you to death. Giving you Lei and other items in exchange for 75% of your kills and other things you got your hands on. He was generous to you, even offering meals to you when he cooked since it was your meet you gave him.

This was just a simple favor he gave you, telling you of the place that no one dared to touch out of fear. Knowing you would take the bait and travel to that place with a goal set in mind to make a quick buck. That was what you were going to do anyway, yet once you appeared in front of the large gates you felt yourself stop in place. Swallowing the lump in your throat as you stared at the wooden hinges, rusted and worn. Were you really going to risk your life for a quick bag a Lei? You asked yourself as you stared blankly at the doors that could either lead to your fortune or to your demise. A soft sigh escaped your lips as your hands pressed against the worn gates, feeling every cut and curve in the old wood as you pushed them open. Leading to the adventure that awaited you,

Crunch by crunch your boots hit the snow, gazing around at the trees in order to gain some advantage by the creatures that roamed these parts. A part of you frightened by what you have heard of this place from before. That no one returns to the village unharmed or near death if they manage to escape which was never. That the Lord is a vicious and cruel beast, never to be heard or trusted if meeting him. If hearing his voice coming upon thy, death may follow slowly or quickly depending on the punishment he finds suitable. Knowing the legends of his domain made you anxious, yet Duke's stories were different in a way. Saying he was a man of metal and worked in his factory day and night. Having slight anger issues and an attention problem most of the time, loving to show off what he is made of with threats by his big hammer.

Suddenly you stopped, pulling the string of your bow back as you aimed it up high. Hearing the scratches of squirrel up above you as it jumped gracefully from branch to branch. Causing snow to drop to the ground as it continued on. A slight smirk raised to your face as you let go of the string, sending an arrow up and right in to your prey. You were good, one of the best in the village even though little seemed to see you for who you really were. The crunch of the snow filled the air once more as you stepped forward and picked up your prize. Grabbing the arrow that stuck out from it's skin as you slung the lifeless corpse in to your bag for later. Living out here like this, free to do whatever you pleased made you hopeful of the future. Fine on your own and your skill could bring you whatever you needed.
