The years had worn on you like old leather, cracking under the pressure of memories you'd rather forget then relieve in your nightmares at night. Raccoon City, the mansion, the countless horrors that followed you everywhere no matter where you went. Each event had left its mark, etched deep into your soul after you thought everything was done. You had fought alongside the best—Chris, Jill, Leon, Rebecca—and survived things that would haunt the average person for a lifetime. Monsters, mutated beasts, creatures that rose from the dead and craved flesh everywhere they went. Even enemies you never thought would turn on you in the end just like your old leader Wesker had. But after everything, the constant battle against the darkness that Umbrella had unleashed on the world, you were tired. It wasn't just the fighting, the training, the new monsters that approached. It just seemed like everything was weighing on you so much as time passed by since your first night experiencing the horrible horrors that were on that train you could never forget.

There were days when you questioned why you kept fighting, why you continued to put yourself in harm's way. You were no longer the wide-eyed rookie who had boarded that ill-fated train with Rebecca all those years ago after splitting apart from the main group. That night, you had encountered horrors beyond imagination, but you had also met someone who would forever linger in your thoughts: Billy Coen.

Billy was a wanted man, a convicted criminal, and a fugitive on the run. Yet, despite everything, you couldn't forget him. The way he'd protected you, his strength, and the way he'd carried himself, even with the weight of his past pressing down on him. He had been more than just a partner in survival; he had been someone you could trust, someone who understood the darkness you both carried. You could never forget how nice he was to you, even with his arrogant acts and cocky remarks. He seemed like he had everything together and even though you both were working on opposite sides. There was an unspoken trust between you both you never felt for anyone else. But just being around him made everything seem okay, it was something you could never explain up front why you felt this way about him. Hell you were supposed to turn him in for his crimes and yet you could never bring yourself to. He made you feel comforted and safe, making you feel like you could actually take a second rather than putting up this brave front all the time, he made you feel like you could be yourself.

But as the years passed, Billy had vanished from your life, slipping away like a shadow after the events that unfolded back then once you escaped from that place. You had no way of knowing where he was, what he was doing, or if he was even still alive. He had to split away from you, you both knew that since technically you were supposed to capture him. He was still wanted, even after you learned of his true past, even after you learned how good of a man he was. The others couldn't be so easily convinced like you were in the time you spent with him. And so, you buried those feelings, focusing on the fight, on surviving, on pushing through the pain and exhaustion that had become your constant companions time and time again as you made it through harsh nights and missions that followed then and now in the present.

Tonight was no different. After another grueling day of work, you trudged back to your apartment, the weight of the world heavy on your shoulders after the many hours you spent working at the B.S.A.A headquarters like you were so used to doing now at days. But the memories never truly left your head unfortunately, haunting you in the quiet moments when you were alone with your thoughts as you continued to think about the past. Thinking about the moments where you were so close to death, where you watched your friends get hurt or even pass on from injuries caused by the monsters you were fighting against. You sighed as you reached your door, pulling out your keys with a tired hand as you shook your head. Not wishing to think about work anymore then you already had today. Even if it was hard to relax anymore that was what you wanted most right now after today's work that went on. The familiar creak of the hinges greeted you as you stepped inside, the dim light of your apartment offering little comfort.
