You moved, feeling the bed creak underneath you as you began to slowly open your eyes. Adjusting to the early morning light that appeared to creep through the blinds even though they were shut. You groaned as you snuggled up into your blanket, grinning to yourself as you felt Leon's arms hold you closer to himself as you laid there with your back against his chest. He was snoring slightly as he laid there, bare chested in his boxers after stripping the night before. You loved his warmth, the feeling of safety and compassion radiating from him as he held on to you. Yet you knew this moment couldn't last forever, work would start in a couple hours for you both at the agency, you needed to get an earlier start. You reached down, bringing his hand up and away from your waist. You placed a small peck against the top of his hand, leaning over and placing one on his forehead too before you slowly pushed yourself up and off the bedside.

A yawn escaped your lips as you stretched, scratching your back somewhat before reaching over. Stealing Leon's shirt from the edge of the bed, it was a size too big but his shirts made you feel giddy when you wore them. Another yawn left your lips as you took a few steps away from the bed, pulling the blinds open before making your escape to the rest of the apartment you shared with your beloved. Truth be told you didn't even know you would be able to be here with him. The Raccoon City incident was a time and place you could never forget in your life no matter how much you pushed it to the back of your mind. Your mental and physical scars constantly reminded you of that day you shared with Leon. The day you two and your friends Claire and Sherry bade it out of the city with little to no time left to escape. You didn't think you were even going to make it out of there, let alone have a future with the guy you had a crush on in the police force back then.

Your footsteps echoed through the empty hall as you made your way down to the kitchen. Grabbing the pancake mix from the cabinet as well as the pan to cook them on. Mornings like this were something that happened regularly between you both. One of you would wake up a bit earlier than the other and would make food since your mornings were usually busy to get up and ready for work. Humming a small tune you poured the mix into the bowl and added the ingredients needed for the batter. Grabbing the whisk from the utensil basket you kept close to the stove. The batter was just to the right consistency yet you felt like it needed something more, maybe chocolate chips, blueberries? You should probably ask Leon once he would get up from bed after realizing you were gone. Speaking of which, you smiled as you continued to work, hearing his slightly heavy footsteps appear in the hall. It was strange yet you felt as though your senses were heightened after being in such a traumatic place back then. You could always tell if he was sneaking up on you compared to someone or something else.

Slowly his hands slipped around your waist as he stood behind you, placing small pecks across the back of your neck with a satisfied hum. You turned your head, earning a kiss on the lips as well before he pulled back and watched over you as you worked.

"Good morning to you too Kennedy" you giggled as you started to pour the pancake batter on to the pan to make breakfast finally. As Leon held you his cheeks started to burn, watching you cook in one of his shirts was a hell of a sight to see. You looked so cute as you stood there, yet as he held on to you the shirt slipping down one of your shoulders slightly. Revealing the bite mark across your shoulder by your neck from back in Raccoon City. It didn't take you long to realize what he was staring at. Normally in the mornings he would continue to lace your neck with kisses, or sway slowly even though there was no music to listen to. A small sigh escaped your lips, feeling almost embarrassed by the scar of teeth marks that laced your skin. The uneven pattern of scar tissue that plagued you so, even afterward from the accident. All the tests imaginable were run on you to see if you had any of the cure, any new virus or antivirus anyone could use. It was terrifying what they did to you, days in the hospital, days where you were under observance. The day you were all rescued as soon as people caught wind of what happened to you, you were taken away as if you were the worst bio weapon of them all.

Even though the stove was on and at some point you would have to flip the pancake on the pan. You turned in his arms, hugging him tightly almost as he held on to your still. Your face was pressed into his chest as you stood there, feeling his comfort when you needed it the most. A small sigh escaped your lips as you both stood there.

"You're looking at it again aren't you Leon" It wasn't like he was caught off-guard from you asking. He has done this before with your scars, mostly the bite mark but even the smaller ones you gained that night.

"Yeah...but its not the reason you probably think"

"Because it's an eyesore?" you suddenly asked, that self-conscious feeling returning to you as you thought more and more about how much your scar stood out. It was a constant reminder that you could never get rid of unless you wore shirts to cover it up completely. Yet even then you were screwed in the warmer weather since tank tops wouldn't be able to cover it up very well.

"No! not at all actually....It's just when I look at it it reminds me of how I couldn't help you when you needed me the most back in Raccoon City.... I just wished I could have been there for you when you were grabbed and bit. I could have just turned and fired one shot and you would have been okay. You wouldn't have had to go through all of that trauma and pain before I grabbed the antiviral solution for you to cure you last second. Even then when we got back you were taken away and tested on the majority of the months....I just feel so awful knowing how much you have gone through when I could have tried to save you" He replied with a sad tone laced with his words. You lifted your head up from his chest and stared up at him. Frowning at his sudden guilt that seemed to not leave him alone.

"Leon, I don't blame you for what happened alright. You saved me by giving me the cure remember. Going through hell and back to grab the viles in there and saved one from Ada when she asked. Even though I went through trials and tests I'm still here and I'm alright..Stop blaming yourself for this okay when you did nothing wrong" You replied as you hand reached up, cupping his cheek so he would keep his gaze focused on you as you stood there. His gaze matched yours as you stared into each other's eyes for a second. You smiled warmly as he leaned down, connecting your lips for a passionate kiss you both seemed to need for reassurance. His hand traveled lower down your hip as you kissed each other, seeming to want more even though he knew there was no time for it. You pulled away, your hand lowering to find his shoulder. Your fingers ran over his scar he earned from that night, the bullet hole from where he had gotten shot.

"We both got beaten up that night in a fair share of ways Leon...But I think it makes us stronger in a way" You reminded him as your fingers traveled across his skin, a smile spread across your cheeks as he let your fingers dance on his scar. He smiled as he gazed down at you standing there with him. The love of his life he could truly say after spending so much time with you over the years. You were his partner in crime before Raccoon City and would definitely be by his side no matter what now. Seeing you now with him in your shared apartment could instantly bring a smile to his face. Knowing back then he thought he was never going to see you again. He takes that moment and keeps it in his mind, to remind himself how lucky he is to have you with him now today.

"I think it does too, I'm lucky to have you by my side Y/n"

"So am I Leon....I owe you my life and then some. So as a small way of repayment, I need to make these pancakes before they burn and the whole place smells like smoke" You laughed, taking the sweet moment and adding in the present time of making pancakes. He smiled as he rolled his eyes to look annoyed.

"Sorry for bothering the master Chef" He replied as you turned around, flipping the pancake with the spatula in your hand. His hand still stayed at your waist as he watched you cook. Glad he could have you by his side for the rest of his life.
