(That gif has nothing to do with this chapter but I just love how fricking hot Hawk is in that.)

Sky laid her head on Hawk's shoulder and let out a satisfied sigh. They were cuddling on the couch, in Hawk's basement, watching a movie and Sky was happier than she had been in a long, long time.
It was now two weeks from the day she'd been kicked down the stairs, and her injuries were healing pretty well. They had released her from the hospital the day before. She'd gotten the heavy bandages off her head and her nose a couple of days ago - a lighter splint still supported the bridge of her nose but that would come off in a week too, and hair had already started to cover the wounds on her temple. Sure, there was still the cast in her arm, and she would have to endure that for another 6 weeks, but it wasn't so bad. The thing that bothered her most was her right leg - it was still numb and wouldn't move properly when she walked - a brain injury, the doctors had said - and there was no knowing if it would ever heal properly. Sky did her physiotherapy exercises every day like a good little soldier, but she couldn't really tell if they did any good. Hawk had had to carry her down to the basement because the stairs were still a big no.
But now in his arms, Sky didn't even care about her stupid leg. So what if she could never run, or do karate again? She was alive, and she was with Hawk, and that was all that mattered.
"This movie makes no sense," Hawk muttered, running his fingers gently through her hair.
"It's a superhero movie," Sky replied. "It's not supposed to make any sense."
Hawk rolled his eyes but didn't protest further, and Sky leaned closer to him as his arm wrapped around her shoulders. Ant-Man continued playing on the screen, but Sky wasn't really paying attention. She'd seen the movie dozens of times anyway, but this was the first time she was alone with Hawk after their break up, it was giving her all kinds of ideas.
She snuggled even closer and laid her hand on Hawk's chest, fingers trailing small circles on his T-shirt. The muscle under the fabric was lean and hard, she loved how it felt against her palm.
He pulled her close and placed a kiss on the top of her head.
"You okay?" he asked. "Your arm isn't hurting?"
She shook her head. "I'm good."
Tilting her face up, she flashed him a smile and his eyes turned from the TV screen to her. Her fingers kept moving on his chest, downwards, and he drew in a shaky breath as her hand reached the hem of his T-shirt and she slid her fingers under it.
"Sky–" his cheeks turned pink. "My Mom's home."
Sky glanced towards the stairs that led from the basement to the ground floor. The door on the top of the stairs was open - his mom had insisted on no closed doors - and even over the sounds of the movie, Sky could hear the clattering of pans and pots from the kitchen as Beth was preparing the dinner.
"I know," Sky grinned, sliding her hand under his shirt, palm against the hot skin of his lower abdomen. "But she's cooking. It's not like she'd just leave the food on the stove and rush down here, right?"
Hawk didn't look convinced, but as Sky slid her hand away, he let out a low, dry sound that was born deep inside his chest. He leaned in to kiss her, his lips so hot on hers, eager, impatient. Every kiss they had shared this past week had been pretty much like this - so full of yearning and passion that it grew deep in seconds. Sky let out a soft moan when his tongue entered her mouth and he brought a hand to cup her face. His kisses were like a drug, one that she could never get enough of. The way his hand trembled, his fingers dug into her scalp, told her the feeling was mutual.
