Let's get into it.

First Person POV - Y/n

The whole date thing was rampaging across the school. People were asking whoever to be their date to the ball simply because having someone was better than having no one.

Ron and Harry complained every night since almost everyone had dates around us.

"All the good-looking ones taken, Ron?" said Hermione as we sat down. "Well, I'm sure you'll find someone somewhere who'll have you."

But Ron was staring at Hermione as though suddenly seeing her in a whole new light.

"Hermione, you are a girl..."

"Really, I had no idea," she said.

"Well-you can come with me!"

"No, I can't," snapped Hermione.

"Oh come on," he said impatiently, "we need partners, we're going to look really stupid if we haven't got any, everyone else has..."

"I can't come with you," said Hermione, now blushing, "because I'm already going with someone."

I smiled at her since it was pretty cute. Krum had asked her and it made sense now why he was always in the library. It's cause she was.

"No, you're not!" said Ron. "You just said that to get rid of Neville because he asked you!"

"Oh did I?" said Hermione, and her eyes flashed angrily.

"Just because it's taken you three years to notice, Ron, doesn't mean no one else has spotted I'm a girl!"

Ron stared at her. Then he grinned again.

"Okay, okay, we know you're a girl," he said. "That do? Will you come now?"

"I've already told you!" Hermione said very angrily. "I'm going with someone else!"

And she stormed off toward the girls' dormitories again.

"She's lying," said Ron flatly, watching her go.

"She's not," I relied.

"Who is it then?" said Ron sharply.

"I'm not telling you, it's her business," I answered, "But she does have a date."

"Right," said Ron, who looked extremely put out, "this is getting stupid. Who are you going with Ginny?"

"I..." said Ginny, going red. "I'm going with-with Neville. He asked me and I thought...well...I'm not going to be able to go otherwise, I'm not in fourth year. I think I'll go to sleep as well."

Ginny got up and walked off to the portrait hole, her head bowed.

"The twins have dates too," said Ron, "My entire family has dates but me."

"Just be more charming," I said, "Good luck to you both."

I left them after that and I learned the next morning that after I had left, they had asked the Patil twins to be their dates.

"At least you have dates," I said as Harry complained about how he had wanted to go with Cho Chang from Ravenclaw.

Apparently, Cedric had asked her instead and he was quite disappointed.

Ron kept snapping at him and telling him to stop since he was afraid someone would hear and they would lose those dates.

It was hilarious how not having a boyfriend or girlfriend made these things that much more difficult.
