Hello friends!
So I was actually inspired to do this piece after seeing a base my lovely friendo used (hi Ava), and I just thought it suited Madoka really well, so I naturally thought it was perfect to use for her first solo drawing in my art book!
As I said in her chapter, Madoka may look sweet, but she is absolutely ruthless the minute she encounters a demon since she just completely lets loose—heck, even Hideki gets kinda scared of her when she gets like this. In other words, boy am I glad that I'm not a demon- XD
Now as for the art process, I had a lot of fun with this one! She's really fun for me to draw and I really like her color palette (shocker I know). I would say the easiest part was probably the hair and skirt, though the haori took a little trial and error to get it to work with the lace sleeves, and look we don't have to talk about how many attempts the sword and breathing style effect took to get right- I tried my best with those, though I kept debating whether or not to keep the peony flowers as part of the visual so hopefully I made the right decision!
...we also don't have to talk about the fact that I almost forgot her freckles, but I still really like how her face came out!! That has to count for something, right? :D
And now, it's time for a taisho secret!
When she originally learned flower breathing, she actually mastered the fifth form—peonies of futility—first, and that's what inspired her to create her breathing style!
