- a year later -

(Yes, it's a big time jump but I have absolutely no idea of what to write)

A year had passed since I first came up from the box, and I'd finally gotten used to life in the Glade.

"Morning, Alex," I smile at the new Greenie as I walk up to him. He came up a month ago today, the fifteenth person to arrive after me.

"Morning," he replies tiredly, rubbing his eyes.

"Oh, come on! Not just a little smile?" I tease him as we make our way to the kitchens for breakfast.

"Sorry, I'm just not a morning person," he mumbles with a yawn.

"Oh, same," I reply, grinning, "Well, normally I am, but not when there's a new Greenie coming up."

Alex laughs a little. "Yeah, I've noticed over the last month how you're always half asleep—either on the table or leaning on Newt, Theo, or Minho, when he's not already off to the maze."

I laugh along with him as we reach the kitchens and grab our food. I can already hear the boys talking over at the table, and I walk over to join them.

"Morning," Alby smiles at me as I sit down beside Andrew, Alex sitting on the other side of him.

"Morning," I reply with a smile, taking a bite of my bacon.

"Hi," Newt says as he walks up and sits next to me. I smile up at him and greet him with a soft, "Hey," before taking another bite of my food.

"Hey, She-bean," Theo suddenly says from behind me, putting his hands on my shoulders, causing me to jump slightly in my seat. The whole table erupts into laughter.

"Morning, Theo," I laugh, playfully glaring at him as I turn around to face him.

"Excited to meet the new Greenie?" he asks, sitting on the other side of the table after grabbing a plate of food for himself.

"Yeah, and I really hope it's a girl this time," I reply, taking a mouthful of eggs.

"Yeah, we could use some more estrogen around here," Erick chimes in from across the table, making everyone burst into laughter.

I roll my eyes playfully at them. "Literally, I'm surrounded by idiots," I mutter under my breath, taking another bite of my food, though they all look at me.

"But at least we're hot," Oliver says, and I immediately fake gag, making everyone laugh even harder.

We spend the rest of breakfast chatting, laughing, and joking around, enjoying the warmth and camaraderie of the Glade. It's moments like these that make it all feel like home.
