- big day -"WAKE UP, SHE-BEAN!" Minho's voice echoes through the hut, followed by loud banging on my door.
I groan, burying my face deeper into my pillow. "Go away, Minho," I mumble, my words muffled.
Of course, he doesn't listen. The door creaks open, and I hear his footsteps. "Come on, you gotta get up! Big day today," he insists.
I turn over, squinting at him through sleepy eyes. "What are you talking about?"
Minho crosses his arms, leaning against the doorframe with an amused grin. "Seriously? You don't know?"
I shake my head, still groggy.
"Alright, let me give you a hint," he says, dragging out his words. "You've been here for a month now..."
It takes a second for the meaning to sink in, but when it does, my eyes widen in realization. "Oh my god," I gasp. "The new Greenie is coming up today!"
Minho nods, his grin widening. "Bingo. Now get your lazy butt outta bed before breakfast is gone."
Rolling my eyes, I sit up and swing my legs over the side of the bed. "A little privacy wouldn't hurt," I say pointedly.
"Fine, fine," Minho chuckles, backing out of the room and shutting the door behind him.
I quickly throw on a pair of black shorts and a grey shirt, then lace up my tan combat boots. Grabbing my black cap, I head out, meeting Minho as we walk toward the eating area.
The Gladers are already gathered, busy with breakfast. I fill my plate with eggs and toast and sit beside Minho.
"So, last few hours as the Greenie, huh?" Justin teases, smirking at me from across the table. "How's it feel?"
I shrug, popping a piece of toast into my mouth. "Honestly, it feels like I've been here forever already."
The group laughs, and the easy banter continues as we eat.
"Hey, Y/N, could you help out in the med-hut today?" Clint asks, glancing over from the next table. "I've got a feeling it's gonna be an eventful day with the new arrival."
"Sure," I reply with a smile, spearing a piece of bacon with my fork.
"Morning..." a groggy British voice cuts in from behind me, and I feel hands land on my shoulders. I jump slightly before turning to see Newt, his hair a mess and his eyes half-closed.
I laugh. "Good morning, Newt. You look like you just rolled out of bed."
"Because I did," he quips, dropping into the seat beside me.
"So," he begins, his tone teasing, "ready for your big day?"
I roll my eyes. "I don't know. I might actually miss being the Greenie."
Newt chuckles, shaking his head. "Sure you will."
After breakfast, I head to the med-hut with Clint. The day is busy, filled with sorting supplies, helping with minor injuries, and preparing for the arrival of the new Greenie. The Glade buzzes with energy, and I can't help but feel a mix of excitement and curiosity for what's to come.
