After Joe had made sure the child in the street was still alive and breathing but unconscious he kept kneeling by her side and dialed 911. He wanted to get into his car and continued driving on his way. If he hadn't been thinking about the lying employee stealing freak of nature Nigel Norland it would never have happened. This was all Nigel's fault. One hundred percent his damn fault. He rued the day he had ever met the man.
" 911. What is your emergency? "
In an oddly trembling with fear voice he said," There's been an accident. A child has been hit by a car. "
He hesitated. He looked down at her bruised and bloodied face. Shit. It was that missing kid. Rebecca Arnett. Formerly known as Rebecca Norland. Double shit. He wanted to groan.
" What is your location, sir ? What is her condition? "
He told the operator where they were currently. Then he made a decision instinctively. " I saw what happened. I saw a homeless man stealing a car. A blue sedan. I saw him hit the missing girl. I found Rebecca Arnett. Is there a reward for finding her ? "
Then he added on the description of the homeless guy he had seen running off.
