Chapter 3

It took a whole half day to unload the goods from a truck. During this time, no one came over to cause trouble, but it did attract a crowd of onlookers.

Lin Ran had no intention of kindly informing these neighbours about the end of the world. After all, anything said now would surely not be believed by anyone, and once doomsday arrived, those people might even turn around and blame her for not warning them enough that doomsday was indeed coming.

Lin Ran didn't consider herself a saintly person. When doomsday came, if she could manage her own survival, that would be good enough. She had no interest in managing the life and death of others.

In her previous life, Lin Ran grew up in an orphanage and later started learning martial arts and shooting due to her good physical condition. She then joined an international security company. Tomorrow morning, she still had to visit the hospital for a comprehensive physical examination. While the apocalypse hadn't arrived yet, she wanted to adjust her physical condition to its best. Afterwards, she would need to buy a large amount of medicine from the pharmacy-things that were indispensable during the end times. Besides that, she also needed to buy some weapons for self-defence. The book mentioned that after the apocalypse, some humans would be infected by a virus and turn into zombies, so having weapons for self-defence was a necessity.

Looking at the messy house, Lin Ran had no mood to stay. Anyway, there was still money in her account. She could just stay in a hotel. Just as Lin Ran was preparing to leave, a man in his fifties appeared at the door.

In the original book, Lin Ran was just a cannon fodder character, and all descriptions about her were related to the female lead. As for the original host's family situation, Lin Ran knew nothing about it. Now, looking at the man in front of her, Lin Ran didn't know how to address him.

Seeing Lin Ran standing at the door, the man frowned and said discontentedly, "Why are you standing at the door? Why did you come back so early today? Did you cook?"

As he spoke, the man walked into the house. Seeing the messy living room and two rooms piled full of things, the man almost couldn't catch his breath.

Pointing inside incredulously, he said, "What... What... What have you been doing at home, Lin Ran? Are you alright? We've been living here for five or six years. What's gotten into you? Why are you renovating again and turning the house into such a mess?"

Lin Ran hadn't expected that the original host actually had a father. She furrowed her brows slightly. Living alone seemed better for her, but since the original host had family, she couldn't just kick him out now. After all, it was still a lawful society, and human order hadn't collapsed yet. If the original host's father behaved himself, Lin Ran could help him survive the apocalypse. But if he caused trouble, Lin Ran wouldn't hesitate to take action.

"Don't worry about it for now. Several walls in my house were damaged, so I've called someone to come and renovate. Just ignore it. Anyway, I'm using my own bonus for this. As for this food and water, they were prizes I won during a company event. The company had them delivered directly by truck. Let's not waste them. Don't be angry. In a few days, I'll contact the seller to clear these out." Lin Ran hastily fabricated an excuse.
