After collecting their items, Lin Ran carefully moved the zombies aside and shifted two chairs. Mo Shuyu then removed the mop handle from the door handles.
Throughout the process, they made minimal noise. Only two zombies were outside. Lin Ran whispered, “When we run out, wait for me at the building entrance.”
“Okay,” Mo Shuyu nodded.
After instructing Mo Shuyu, Lin Ran rushed out with her sword. She swiftly slashed the spine of a large male zombie before it could even raise its arms, decapitating it.
The other female zombie reacted and lunged at Lin Ran’s neck. Lin Ran blocked with her sword, slashing the zombie’s neck and decapitating it.
Afraid the zombies’ cries would attract others, Lin Ran quickly ran to the building entrance. Once they both entered the stairwell, Lin Ran relaxed.
Remembering Lin Lei was still upstairs, she led the way. Both carried large backpacks filled with moderately heavy items. While Lin Ran’s enhanced physique made it easier for her, Mo Shuyu felt a bit tired.
On the second floor, they encountered Lin Lei. Lin Ran kicked him aside and continued to the third floor with Mo Shuyu, not paying him any mind. If Lin Ran wanted to kill him, he would have been dead long ago. She kept him around to spite Lin Zhongsheng.
The rest of their journey was smooth without encountering more zombies, likely still wandering on higher floors.
Soon, they entered the stairwell on the tenth floor and returned to the corridor through the second door, reaching their homes. Lin Ran suggested, “Let’s go to your place first.”
“Okay,” Mo Shuyu hurriedly opened the door.
Her child ran towards them for a hug but was stopped by Mo Shuyu. “Wait, Ruan Ruan, no hugs. We’re dirty from outside. Stay with grandma.”
Disappointed, the child went to find Cheng Yanhong.
Lin Ran smiled at the adorable scene. “Let’s put the things in your room,” she said to Mo Shuyu.
Mo Shuyu quickly realized Lin Ran’s intention. Many items were in Lin Ran’s space, and revealing them would be shocking. This ability was Lin Ran’s secret, and Mo Shuyu only guessed about it without knowing the specifics.
“Alright,” Mo Shuyu agreed and informed her mother, “Mom, Lin Ran and I will be in the room for a bit.”
“Go ahead,” Cheng Yanhong replied, holding the child and wondering what they were up to.
Once inside, Lin Ran realized they would still reveal much by carrying only backpacks. Smiling wryly, she decided to proceed. With a thought, two bags of rice, two bags of flour, a barrel of peanut oil, a barrel of sunflower oil, and various condiments appeared in the room.
Lin Ran also took out some socks and underwear from her backpack, placing them on Mo Shuyu’s bed. Seeing Mo Shuyu’s curious gaze, Lin Ran explained, “These items might become scarce as the apocalypse progresses. Keep half for yourself as they might be impossible to buy later.”
Mo Shuyu's ears turned completely red. She fanned herself with her hand, trying to cool her flushed face.
Her gaze shifted downwards, noticing the box of underwear on the bed. The small supermarket was quite well-stocked, even having some novelty items. Had Lin Ran grabbed it randomly, or was she hinting at something? Was she implying her hand had healed?
The more Mo Shuyu thought about it, the hotter she felt, and she fanned herself more vigorously.
Lin Ran noticed her discomfort and asked, “What’s wrong?”
