Sure enough, it wasn’t long before people in the group chat started discussing the water outage. Some even called the water department, but the result was predictable.

Those with some life experience had already stored some water in buckets or bottles. Even Zhang Ming, a second-generation rich kid in apartment 2001, filled his bathtub just in case.

Mo Shuyu had just finished eating and was cleaning the table when Cheng Yanhong remembered what she had seen on her daughter's bed. Clearing her throat, she said, "You should tidy up the things on your bed yourself. And don't let Lin Ran have her way all the time. Alphas are always greedy. If you keep indulging her, she'll become spoiled."

Mo Shuyu blushed, realizing what her mother was implying. She quickly gathered the dishes, saying, "Mom, don’t say that. We haven’t done anything yet."

With that, she hurried into the kitchen. However, when she turned on the faucet, only a thin stream of water came out before it stopped entirely.

Mo Shuyu called out to Cheng Yanhong, “Mom, it seems the water is out. I’ll ask Lin Ran if it’s the same on her side.”

“Alright, go ahead,” Cheng Yanhong said worriedly. She wondered if this was a temporary outage or a permanent one. If it was permanent, it would be a big problem.

Lin Ran checked her WeChat and saw a message from Mo Shuyu.

Dr. Mo: Has the water gone out at your place?

Lin Ran: Yes, and it’s permanent. Given the situation outside, there won’t be anyone to fix it.

Dr. Mo: I figured as much. If you run out of water, you can come to my place. My mom filled all our buckets and basins, so we can share and save some.

Lin Ran: Okay, I understand.

Exiting the chat with Mo Shuyu, Lin Ran considered whether to invite them to stay with her. If she did, Mo Shuyu’s mother would inevitably discover her secret space. Plus, it would mean taking care of three more people. Was it worth it?

Feeling frustrated, Lin Ran decided to put off the decision until they completely ran out of water.

She opened the group chat for Building 9, which was already in chaos.

Wang Hao 302: The water is out! Does anyone have water at home?

Wang Wuyang 1103: Luckily, I stored some, but I only have two pots. This might last two days at most. I called the water department, but no one answered.

Wang Zhichao 203: It seems the sewage is blocked too. Maybe the pipes on the first floor are clogged. I checked, and my toilet is flooding. Don’t use the drains.

Zhang Ming 2001: If we can’t use the drains, where do we go to the bathroom?

Wang Zhichao 203: Use plastic bags and throw them out. The septic tank might be full. If this continues, our homes will be full of waste.

Ma Shuai 801: @Wang Zhichao, enough already. That’s disgusting. How are we supposed to live like this?

Hu Xuecheng 2004: Damn, the water’s out. Who has bottled water? Bring it to me, or else.

Zhang Ming 2001: Don’t think about taking mine. My dad is trying to save me. Isn’t Lin Ran there? Ask her for water.

Hu Xuecheng 2004: @Lin Ran, @Lin Ran, @Lin Ran, if you don’t respond, don’t blame me for what happens next. I’ll kill you first.

Lin Ran couldn’t help but laugh and quickly typed a reply.

Lin Ran: @Hu Xuecheng, don’t talk big, idiot. You don’t even dare leave your house. I’d like to see how you’re going to kill me. You’d probably wet yourself at the sight of a zombie.
