Chapter 36

Lin Ran glanced at the three zombies, all male. She gripped her sword and charged down before the zombies could react. The leading zombie's head was severed before it could even pounce.

The shorter male zombie and Lin Lei lunged at Lin Ran. She kicked Lin Lei, sending him crashing into the wall. Lin Ran then swiftly beheaded the shorter zombie.

Lin Lei charged at Lin Ran again, but she kicked him once more and said to Mo Shuyu, "Let's go. He might be useful later."

They continued downstairs, with Lin Ran killing two more zombies. By the time they reached the first floor, only four out of ten zombies remained, one of them being Lin Lei.

Lin Ran slowed down and cautiously approached the building's entrance, observing the situation outside. There were four zombies, one less than she had seen on the surveillance.

She whispered to Mo Shuyu, "Stay close to me and be careful."

"Got it." Mo Shuyu was highly focused, determined not to be a burden to Lin Ran.

After warning Mo Shuyu, Lin Ran charged at the zombies, thanks to the enhancement, she was faster than an average alpha. The zombies barely had time to sense her presence before their heads were rolling on the ground.

The remaining three zombies rushed at Lin Ran. She swiftly kicked two aside, dodged the third's attack, and swiftly killed the first two before finishing off the third.

In just a few seconds, two of the three attacking zombies were already dead. As the remaining zombie turned its attention towards Mo Shuyu, Lin Ran jumped up, raised her sword, and struck the back of the zombie’s neck, bringing it down.

Lin Ran's actions were smooth and efficient, killing four zombies in just a minute or two. "Let's go," she said, moving forward with her sword, with Mo Shuyu closely following behind.

Meanwhile, some survivors in Building 9 witnessed Lin Ran's fight with the zombies.

Ma Shuai from Apartment 801 stood by the window, staring in disbelief at the spot where Lin Ran had just killed the zombies. His girlfriend, Zhang Yingying, noticed him daydreaming and complained, "What are you looking at? Instead of figuring out how to get supplies, you're just staring out the window. We’re almost out of food, and soon we’ll run out of rice and flour too."

"No, I just saw Lin Ran from the 10th floor. She killed four zombies with a long sword. Look at those zombie bodies lying there, she killed them," Ma Shuai said anxiously.

Lin Ran moved swiftly. She killed the female zombie first, then dodged the male zombie's attack and swiftly decapitated it with a powerful strike.

Lin Ran didn’t let her guard down. She thoroughly checked the supermarket, including the restroom and changing room, to ensure there were no more zombies. Only then did she relax a bit.

"How is it?" Mo Shuyu asked, running up to Lin Ran.

"It's safe now. I'll move these two zombies to the door." Lin Ran dragged the male zombie to the entrance and did the same with the female zombie, using their bodies to mask the scent of the living inside the supermarket.

"Alright, let's start gathering supplies," Lin Ran said to Mo Shuyu.

"Okay," Mo Shuyu nodded.

The convenience store still had power. The owner must have been bitten, as the electrical appliances, especially the freezers, were still running. Lin Ran checked the freezers and found that the items inside, like meatballs, shrimp paste, steaks, frozen dumplings, and tangyuan, were still in good condition.

Relieved, Lin Ran asked Mo Shuyu, "What do you need at home?"

"We're low on rice, flour, and oil. We're also running out of vegetables and meat, and we need more seasonings like soy sauce," Mo Shuyu replied.

“Hmm, try to pack lighter items in your bag, I’ll handle the heavier ones. Go grab those instant noodles and whatever else you need, just take whatever you want,” Lin Ran said as she headed to the grain and oil section.
