After arranging everything, Lin Ran squeezed in a meal and then headed straight to the car modification company. Her SUV was now completely transformed, with the body and windows upgraded to explosion-proof standards and the tires replaced with explosion-proof ones. Overall, the car was now sturdy and durable.

"Hello, Miss Lin. Your car is ready. You can test its performance," the service manager said, handing Lin Ran a hefty baseball bat.

Lin Ran didn't hold back. She picked up the bat and swung it at the car's body and windows, which only chipped a bit of the paint without causing any real damage.

"Alright, very good. Can I take the car now?" Lin Ran asked, satisfied.

The service manager was dumbfounded. Other car owners would be reluctant to hit their modified cars so hard. This Miss Lin was indeed different.

"Miss Lin, you'll need to settle the remaining balance before taking the car. How would you like to proceed?"

Lin Ran still had 500,000 yuan in her account. The total cost of modifying the car was 2 million yuan. She had already paid 1.6 million, leaving a balance of 400,000 yuan. Paying this amount would leave her with exactly 100,000 yuan, which was sufficient for her expenses today.

"Alright, I'll pay now and take the car."

After paying, Lin Ran drove her newly modified SUV to the largest five-star restaurant in Jiangbei City and ordered a lot of food.

While sitting at a window seat on the first floor enjoying her meal, she heard someone calling her from behind.

"Lin Ran? So you took so many days off just to enjoy yourself? Funny. You didn't even reply to the WeChat message I sent you two days ago. Are you planning to quit?" The man kept nagging.

Lin Ran recognized him as Chen Jinquan, her former boss. He had sent her a spreadsheet to work on during her vacation, which Lin Ran had completely ignored. She even hung up on a call from him. With the apocalypse imminent, who cared about a lousy boss and a lousy job? Surviving was all that mattered.

Annoyed by his noise, Lin Ran looked up at him and said, "Yes, I'm quitting. What can you do about it? Have some manners. This is a high-end hotel, and yelling makes you look very low-class."

"You, Lin Ran, how dare you talk to me like that! Do you want to be fired and lose this month's salary?" Chen Jinquan, accompanied by a male omega, was trying to assert his authority.

"Yes, I don't want it. Now get lost. You're like a mad dog, ruining my appetite." Lin Ran waved to a waiter, "Can you help me get rid of this nuisance? It's affecting my meal. Thanks."

"You dare!" Chen Jinquan tried to say more but was interrupted by the waiter. Lin Ran had already ordered items worth several thousand yuan, while Chen Jinquan hadn't even ordered anything yet.

"Sir, if you don't plan to dine here, please leave so as not to disturb our other guests," the waiter said politely but firmly.

Chen Jinquan, infuriated, responded, "What? You think I can't afford it? Fine, I'll eat here today. We'll take that table over there."

He pointed to a table across the aisle from Lin Ran's.

The waiter nodded, "Alright, sir. Please take a seat and don't disturb other guests."

"Forget the menu. Just bring us whatever she ordered," Chen Jinquan said, assuming Lin Ran couldn't have ordered anything too expensive given her modest background. He thought this would save him money.

Feeling smug, Chen Jinquan flirted with his omega boyfriend while occasionally glancing at Lin Ran, remembering how she had been infatuated with another girl for years without any reciprocation.
