After another ten minutes, the number of people on the basketball court had dwindled. Most people, already frightened by the zombies, had returned to sleep or rest once they saw that the machine wasn't particularly special.
Finally, only a few people were left strolling around the basketball court. The two soldiers remained diligently stationed on either side of the machine, showing no signs of slacking off.
Lin Ran, with a thought, made her Tang sword appear in her hand again, this time sheathed. She planned to knock the soldiers out quickly, draw the cards, and then escape.
"Get ready, I'll knock them out, then we draw the cards quickly," Lin Ran whispered to Mo Shuyu.
Mo Shuyu nodded, "Don't worry, I'll watch your back."
"Mm-hmm," Lin Ran nodded and then started counting down softly, "3, 2, 1!"
At the count of one, Lin Ran dashed forward like an arrow from a bow. Although the soldiers were physically fit, they couldn't match Lin Ran's speed, enhanced by genetic modifications. To avoid complications, Lin Ran used a bit more force, knocking one soldier out with the back of her sword. As the other soldier began to shout, Lin Ran quickly covered his mouth, and Mo Shuyu swiftly took the Tang sword from Lin Ran and knocked the soldier out with the back of the blade.
Their movements were quick and seamless, so much so that the few people chatting under the basketball hoop didn't even notice.
Lin Ran looked at the card-drawing machine's screen and quickly tapped the button to load zombie crystal cores. Soon, a drawer popped out, and the screen displayed: "Please insert 100 level-1 zombie crystal cores, or a multiple of 100."
Lin Ran had 479 crystal cores left, and along the way, they had killed 42 more zombies, totaling 521 level-1 crystal cores. There was no time to draw slowly, so Lin Ran threw all 500 level-1 zombie crystal cores into the drawer. The drawer retracted, and the screen displayed: "500 level-1 zombie crystal cores detected. Confirm full insertion?"
Lin Ran tapped "Yes" on the screen, and the screen rapidly displayed ten items in two rows.
Lin Ran quickly scanned the items: one bottle of genetic enhancement serum, one space upgrade (increases space by 10 square meters), three buckets of instant noodles, one motorcycle upgrade (performance upgrade or mechanical arm installation), one mysterious dungeon (allows entry into a random dungeon), one smoke cover card (single-use), one can of Wahaha eight-treasure porridge, one serving of tomato and egg rice, three cans of yellow peach, and one pack of chocolate.
Mo Shuyu also glanced at the items. Having drawn cards with Lin Ran twice before, she understood the pattern. Food and drinks were the least needed items, so they decided to skip them.
Without needing Lin Ran's reminder, Mo Shuyu quickly tapped the draw option on the screen. The screen prompted: "Confirm to draw five times?"
Mo Shuyu quickly confirmed, and five red frames appeared on the screen, rotating clockwise around the ten items. After a few seconds, the five red frames stopped on five items. The card-drawing machine emitted a dazzling golden light, and five cards, each depicting a different item, floated in front of Mo Shuyu.
Mo Shuyu grabbed the cards quickly, just as the people under the basketball hoop noticed the golden light and saw the two unconscious soldiers. They mistakenly thought Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu were criminals and shouted, "That machine is glowing! Someone attacked the soldiers! Is anyone going to do something? Come and check!"
Mo Shuyu hesitated for a moment before Lin Ran pulled her, and they ran into the school building. They ran up to the second floor, slowing down to appear casual, as if they were just strolling.
