After Lin Ran finished scavenging the convenience store, it was almost 7 PM. However, it was summer, so there was still some light outside. She didn't waste any time and immediately rushed out of convenience store, running into the building of Building 9.

Lin Ran skillfully entered through the large white door leading to the fire escape stairs and started climbing. She was surprised not to encounter Jiang Xiaoyun and Lin Lei up to the 9th floor, as she was used to kicking Lin Lei every time she passed by.

On the 9th floor, only Qian Fang and He Baoping, the couple in 903, were left. The other residents had either died or were trapped elsewhere. The only occupied unit on that floor was 903.

Lin Ran pushed through the large white door and reached the area in front of units 903 and 904. She knocked gently and whispered, "Aunt Qian, it's me."

Qian Fang looked through the peephole and, seeing it was Lin Ran, quickly opened the door. "Xiao Lin, why did you come over? Come in quickly. I saw everyone in the group @ing you. They all want to take advantage of you. Don't agree to their demands easily."

"Don't worry, Auntie. I came to bring you some food. Here’s a bag of frozen food. Please put it in the fridge before it thaws," Lin Ran said, handing a large supermarket plastic bag to Aunt Qian.

Aunt Qian quickly stepped back and pushed it away. "What are you doing? Food is so precious now. You should keep it for yourself. We have some rice and flour at home that can last for a while. We don't need this. Besides, we are old. If we go, we go. You're so young and have a good chance of surviving."

T/N: Honestly W neighbours.

"I have plenty at home. Please, just take it. Also, be careful not to open the door if anyone else comes knocking. I fear some people might get desperate and do something reckless," Lin Ran said as she placed the bag on the shoe cabinet at the door and quickly ran out, closing the door behind her.

Decent people consider others, even in difficult times, which is why Lin Ran thought of this couple.

Aunt Qian looked at the bag of food on the shoe cabinet, tears welling up in her eyes. "Old man, Xiao Lin brought this for us. I tried to refuse, but she insisted on leaving it."

"What a good kid," He Baoping sighed. "Even at a time like this, she still thinks of us."

"Yes, we can stretch this food with the rice and flour we have to last about a month," Qian Fang said.

"Yes, we’ll take it one day at a time. Since Xiao Lin brought us this, we should make the most of it and try to live well," He Baoping agreed, his eyes also moist. They had stored a lot of water at home, fearing a water shortage. Every container in their house was filled, so they had enough to last for a while.

Meanwhile, Lin Ran had quickly reached the 10th floor and then returned to her own home.

She put the dried vegetables from her space in the kitchen, but there was no place for the remaining frozen food. Lin Ran had to store it in her vacuum space to keep it from spoiling.

Lin Ran told Mo Shuyu that she was back and would clean up before coming over for dinner. She didn't want to hold the little one while covered in dirt.

Lin Ran took a clean set of pajamas, shorts, and underwear and went to the bathroom. She took off her dirty clothes, planning to get new ones from the abandoned malls later, so she didn't need to wash these.

Lin Ran took a comfortable shower and summoned the system. "33, how many crystal nuclei did I get today?"

"Hello, host. Today you killed 279 zombies and collected 279 level-1 zombie crystal nuclei. Adding the previous 156, you now have a total of 435 level-1 zombie crystal nuclei. Congratulations, host!" The mechanical voice of the system echoed in Lin Ran's mind.
