Lin Ran felt more exhausted than when she worked as a bodyguard in her previous life. Then, after completing a job, she would have several days of rest. Now, tasks kept coming one after another, and she and Mo Shuyu had to set off again after tidying up.
The little one clung to Mo Shuyu's leg one moment and Lin Ran's the next, reluctant to see them leave.
Mo Shuyu picked up the little one and kissed her cheek, "Ruan Ruan, be good and take a nap with Grandma. If everything goes well, Mommy and Auntie will be back by tomorrow."
"Okay, Mommy, Auntie, come back soon," the little one said, rubbing her face against Mo Shuyu's cheek, acting spoiled. Mo Shuyu, reluctant to leave her, kissed her cheek.
"Okay, go to sleep. Mommy has to go now. What do you say to Mommy?" Mo Shuyu asked softly.
"Goodbye, Mommy, Auntie," the little one said sweetly.
"Goodbye, Ruan Ruan. Be good," Mo Shuyu said, handing the little one to Cheng Yanhong.
"Bye-bye, Ruan Ruan. We'll come back to play with you," Lin Ran smiled at the little one.
After saying goodbye to the little one, it was almost 1:30 PM. Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu walked to the building entrance. With a thought, Lin Ran summoned her flashy purple motorcycle. "Let's go. We'll look for the place on the way."
Lin Ran said, straddling the motorcycle, and then turned to help Mo Shuyu up.
Mo Shuyu sat behind Lin Ran and, without needing a reminder, held tightly onto Lin Ran's waist. "Let's go."
Lin Ran smiled slightly, "Alright, let's go."
She twisted the throttle, and after shifting gears, the motorcycle roared to life, awakening the previously quiet neighbourhood.
With a loud roar, Lin Ran's motorcycle sped off, the sound rousing zombies in the city.
Many zombies, hearing the noise, swarmed toward them. With the mechanical arm in front swinging, zombies from the front and sides were knocked far away.
Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu raced down the municipal road, straining their ears for the sound of music amidst the motorcycle's deafening roar. Lin Ran was almost infuriated by the stupid system—how were they supposed to hear music with such noise?
"System 33, I'm really fed up with your system," Lin Ran gritted her teeth mentally.
"Hehe, thank you for the compliment. We're just doing our job," the system responded cutely in its mechanical voice.
"I wasn't complimenting you!" Lin Ran was exasperated, not wanting to argue with the system. She kept crashing into zombies. After driving down one street, Lin Ran faintly heard music.
Mo Shuyu also heard it, "It seems to be coming from the direction of No. 3 Middle School."
Lin Ran nodded. If it was No. 3 Middle School, that would be bad. The Jiangbei City shelter was located there. If it was overrun by zombies, how many people would die?
Lin Ran frowned slightly but had no choice. They had to go and see. She continued riding forward. Her motorcycle was fast, but the zombies were not slow either. After moving half a block, Lin Ran heard gunfire.
"Sounds like the military is firing," Lin Ran shouted to Mo Shuyu.
"What should we do?" Mo Shuyu asked.
"Let's see if we can find a way around," Lin Ran shouted, still planning to check it out. But when they reached Jiangzhong Road, they saw a large number of zombies rushing towards No. 3 Middle School.
