While they were talking, the little girl was watching her mother play with the cats outside and immediately got anxious. "Auntie, I want to go out and play with the cats too~"
Seeing that the little girl couldn't sit still, Wei Qingxue decided to carry her out of the car. She held the child until they reached Mo Shuyu's side before putting her down.
The little girl's eyes widened as she saw the two kittens. "Kitties!"
"Ruan Ruan, do you like the kitties?" Mo Shuyu asked softly.
"I do! Mom, I want to pet them too," the little girl said eagerly, though she was a bit too timid to reach out and pet them directly.
But the two kittens were clever. Sensing that this little human was important, they immediately trotted over to Mo Ruan Ruan and started rubbing against her short legs, purring for attention.
The little girl, who already loved cats, was overjoyed when they snuggled up to her. "Mom, look at the kitties!"
With that, she crouched down and began stroking their fur. The two orange cats rolled over, exposing their bellies, waiting for her to pet them.
Mo Ruan Ruan's eyes sparkled with joy as she proudly exclaimed, "Mom, the kitties like me!"
"Yes, everyone likes our Ruan Ruan," Mo Shuyu said, petting the cats as well.
As time passed, Zheng Li, realizing he had no other option, got on the bus to ask for help.
"You all saw what just happened. I'm out of help now. If we can't clear this road, none of us will make it to the Jiangliao City shelter. I need a few of you to help clear the way. If we move quickly, we can reach Jiangliao City by tonight and avoid spending the night in this wilderness. Otherwise, I can't guarantee what might happen after dark."
Zheng Li had calmed down by this point. Now that he was alone, he had to rally these people, appealing to their shared interest. If no one was willing to help, he wouldn't do it alone either.
Soon enough, the people on the bus grew anxious.
"What should we do? We need to help, or we'll never make it to Jiangliao City before dark."
"Exactly, let's get down there and help move the cars. What else can we do?"
After some discussion, a few people, including some alphas and omegas, got off the bus to help Zheng Li clear the vehicles blocking the highway exit.
By around 7 PM, Zheng Li and his group had finally cleared a path. With daylight still lingering, Zheng Li and a few others got into the lead SUV, while the minibus followed behind.
Lin Ran wasn't in a hurry. She planned to leave in about ten minutes. "We'll find a house in the suburbs to stay in tonight. Let's hold on a bit longer, and once we reach the place, we'll cook dinner."
"Okay," Mo Shuyu agreed with a nod.
Ten minutes later, Lin Ran's group was ready to depart. Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu rode a motorcycle, while the others, including the two chubby orange cats, rode in the car.
Lin Ran started the motorcycle, and as it roared to life, she sped off, with Cheng Yanhong driving behind her.
Before long, Lin Ran and her group reached the outskirts of the city. There weren't many people around, so there were fewer zombies on the road. However, the sound of Lin Ran's motorcycle was loud enough to attract a fair number of them. With no other people in sight, Lin Ran activated her mechanical arm and began effortlessly taking out the zombies in front of them, clearing the way.
She chose a new residential area on the side of the street and drove into it, heading straight for a small high-rise building. The motorcycle quickly reached the entrance of the apartment building.
