As Mo Shuyu and Lin Ran were about to go downstairs, they saw something strange below. Mo Shuyu grabbed Lin Ran's wrist and pointed down, "What are those?"
Lin Ran looked through the hallway window and saw three large dog-like creatures. But these dogs were enormous, with red eyes. Lin Ran felt a chill.
"Could these be mutated dogs? Look at them, they're much more muscular than regular dogs, and their legs and teeth are so sharp."
"Possibly," Mo Shuyu agreed, feeling uneasy.
As Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu watched, the three large dogs looked up at them. One even tilted its head and bared its sharp teeth at Lin Ran, then led the other two dogs into the building.
"This is bad. Those beasts are coming in. Let's find a place to hide first," Lin Ran said, feeling the building shake from the dogs' impact.
The commotion downstairs was loud. Lin Ran kicked open an office door on the fourth floor and rushed in, looking down to see two more large mutated dogs, along with dozens of smaller, mutated dogs, each the size of regular police dogs. They bared their teeth and looked up, seemingly aware that someone was inside.
Lin Ran's heart sank. Killing a few level-1 mutated zombies was easy, but dealing with a pack of mutated dogs was much harder. If they all attacked at once, it would be impossible to fend them off.
"Damn it, these beasts seem prepared. But even zombies don't have intelligence. How can these beasts be so strategic?" Lin Ran couldn't ponder it for long. She rushed to the hallway and saw that the police station courtyard was now swarming with at least fifty small mutated dogs. They seemed to be waiting for a command, all staring at the building, effectively surrounding Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu.
Lin Ran quickly ran back to the office and locked the door. She pulled Mo Shuyu under a desk, her heart pounding rapidly.
The footsteps of the three monstrous dogs downstairs grew heavier, shaking the floor.
Lin Ran took a deep breath. They had picked up submachine guns and rifles from the warehouse, but there wasn't enough time to load the ammunition. Instead, she took out the handgun she had acquired from Hu Xuecheng, which still had 15 bullets in the magazine, ready to use.
Mo Shuyu also took out her iron pan card, silently chanting, and the card transformed into an iron pan with the word "Buddha" engraved on the bottom.
The footsteps outside grew closer. Lin Ran cursed internally at her bad luck. Despite Mo Shuyu being the protagonist and having great luck, it seemed she herself was always the unfortunate one, even in the presence of the protagonist.
However, there was no time for such thoughts, as Lin Ran could hear the sounds of the creatures ramming the door.
With a loud crash, the first office door was broken open. A few seconds later, the sound of another door being broken echoed, indicating the second office door had been breached.
Lin Ran took a deep breath, positioning herself beside a chair to shield Mo Shuyu. Hiding wasn't a viable solution; she needed to test the strength of these creatures.
Lin Ran hid behind the desk, aiming her gun at the door.
She remembered they were in the fourth office from the stairs. Sure enough, soon the sound of the adjacent office door being broken open reached her ears. A few seconds later, the three mutated dogs, having confirmed there was no one inside, approached their office door.
With a loud crash, the door was broken open. Lin Ran didn't dare peek. The leading mutated dog paused, sniffing the air as if confirming a scent.
After a while, it barked loudly. Instead of the large dogs, a dozen smaller mutated dogs charged through the door. Lin Ran immediately raised her gun and began shooting at the small mutated dogs.
