Lin Ran breathed a sigh of relief once she got the Wahaha. Walking back, she saw the little one waiting at the kitchen door. When the little one saw her holding the Wahaha, she immediately hugged Lin Ran's leg, "Auntie, you're awesome!"

Lin Ran shook her head with a smile. She helped the little one insert the straw and handed the drink over.

Ruan Ruan took a big sip and then looked up at Lin Ran, nuzzling her again.

Lin Ran and the little one returned to the couch. Ruan Ruan hugged her Wahaha with one hand and stroked her toy cat with the other while Lin Ran sat beside her.

Lin Ran sighed softly, her gaze towards Ruan Ruan growing gentler. This might be one of the rare moments of peace before the apocalypse fully struck. When survivors ran out of food and zombies increased, this hard-won tranquility would be shattered. The little one was still so small. Would she be able to grow up happily?

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Cheng Yanhong and Mo Shuyu chatted. Watching the interaction between Mo Shuyu and Lin Ran, Cheng Yanhong smiled, "I didn't expect Lin Ran to listen to you so well."

"Mom, don't say that," Mo Shuyu said, blushing as she continued preparing the chicken drumsticks.

Cheng Yanhong smiled and shook her head. In the past couple of days, she had interacted with Lin Ran and found her to be a good person. Despite the difficult times, Lin Ran brought over so much food, unlike the people in the community group who acted like mad dogs, even cursing at her daughter. Cheng Yanhong no longer believed those people.

Lunch was ready quickly. When Mo Shuyu brought the dishes out, Lin Ran and the little one were watching cartoons. With few TV channels airing anything other than news, they had cast the cartoon onto the TV.

"Lunch is ready. Come and eat," Mo Shuyu said, picking up the little one and placing her in a high chair.

Lin Ran turned off the TV and sat at the table. She felt uneasy about coming over for lunch twice and doing nothing in return.

Seeing her discomfort, Cheng Yanhong smiled, "Xiao Lin, don't be shy. Besides, you brought the vegetables. We just cooked them."

"Thank you, Auntie. Sorry to bother you," Lin Ran said quickly.

Mo Shuyu brought Lin Ran's bowl and served her some stir-fried mushrooms and sweet and sour eggplant, topping it off with a chicken drumstick. "Eat up. Have a good lunch."

"Thank you," Lin Ran said politely and began eating with a spoon.

The chicken drumsticks were flavorful, and the other dishes were delicious too.

The little one grabbed a chicken drumstick with her chubby hand and started munching, exclaiming, "It's so good!"

"If you like it, eat up. It's your auntie who brought the tasty food," Mo Shuyu said, smiling at the little one.

Ruan Ruan swallowed the meat in her mouth and coquettishly said to Lin Ran, "Thank you, Auntie~ I like you the best!"

Lin Ran was amused by Ruan Ruan. "You sure know how to flatter people."

"Hehe," Ruan Ruan laughed happily.

After lunch, Lin Ran planned to head back, take a nap, rest her hands, and check the news online in the evening. Her priority was to heal her injuries.

Ruan Ruan was a bit reluctant to see Lin Ran go but, noticing the bandage on her hand, didn't say much. She just hugged Lin Ran's leg and pleaded, "Auntie, will you come to play with me tomorrow?"

"I'll come in the morning to play with you, okay?" Lin Ran said softly to Ruan Ruan.

"Okay, I'll be waiting for you," Ruan Ruan nuzzled against Lin Ran.
