"So what happened today? Why did you suddenly get mad at me and ignore me?" Mo Shuyu sniffled, her eyes red as she looked at Lin Ran.

Lin Ran pulled Mo Shuyu into her arms and explained, "This is a long story. Have you noticed that I'm different from the old Lin Ran?"

Mo Shuyu frowned slightly, "You've changed a lot. I remember you used to create chances to run into me and would always want to talk to me whenever you saw me. But over a month ago, you changed. I remember clearly; I came home and met you at the door, but you were cold, as if you didn't know me."

"Exactly. I didn't know you at that time. That was the first time I saw you." Lin Ran recalled that moment, seeing Mo Shuyu for the first time as a stranger.

"What are you talking about? You had been pursuing me for a long time. How could that be the first time you saw me?" Mo Shuyu found Lin Ran's words unbelievable, wondering if she was still mad about being rejected before.

"I'm not joking. That was really the first time I saw you. What I'm going to say next might sound bizarre, so be prepared," Lin Ran warned gently.

Mo Shuyu looked at Lin Ran in confusion. Bizarre? Could it be more bizarre than her own experience of being inexplicably controlled while stringing along five or six alphas?

"Go ahead, tell me what's going on," Mo Shuyu said, her eyes red but no longer crying.

"I'm not Lin Ran—at least not the Lin Ran from your world. I came from another world. Your world is a book, and you're the main character," Lin Ran explained, watching Mo Shuyu's expression carefully, fearing she might not believe her.

"A book? And I'm the main character?" Mo Shuyu was shocked. If true, Lin Ran's story was indeed more bizarre than her own experiences.

"Yes, in my original world, I was a professional bodyguard. I died from a gunshot wound during a mission and woke up here. I literally traveled through worlds. When I woke up, I had a system in my head that told me your world was an unfinished book. From that book, I learned the apocalypse was coming, which is why I started hoarding supplies and had the house reinforced," Lin Ran explained.

"So you're not Lin Ran? What's your name?" Mo Shuyu asked.

"My name is also Lin Ran, the same as the original Lin Ran, but we're not the same person," Lin Ran clarified.

Hearing this, Mo Shuyu felt somewhat relieved. She always thought the old Lin Ran was creepy and different from the current Lin Ran. Now it all made sense—they were different people.

"But what does all this have to do with why you were mad at me today?" Mo Shuyu pinched Lin Ran's face and continued asking.

"Because in the book, you were a heartbreaker with five or six alphas around you. Later, the book mentioned you bringing your child to Lin Ran, but then you and another lover betrayed and killed Lin Ran. I didn't realize your name was Mo Shuyu until Jiang Wenbo called you that today. My mind was in turmoil, filled with the book's story, so I distanced myself from you," Lin Ran revealed everything, not planning to hide anything from Mo Shuyu, as she genuinely wanted to be with her.

"You mean, in the book, I killed you?" Mo Shuyu was stunned.

"Yes, but I've decided to trust my own eyes rather than a half-finished book. You're not the person the book describes. You're the one I like," Lin Ran said, tightening her embrace and taking the opportunity to confess.

Mo Shuyu's lips curled into a slight smile, which she suppressed. Lin Ran's explanation made everything clear. However, it was quite bold of Lin Ran to claim to like her despite only learning her full name today after spending over a month together.
