Just as the mechanical arm was about to lift them higher, the music inside the building stopped.
Lin Ran anxiously looked inside. This side of the building was adjacent to the lobby of each floor. When the mechanical arm reached the seventh floor, the lobby was crowded with zombies. As they rose to the eighth floor, Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu saw a clear space in the lobby. The zombies crowded around the perimeter but could not enter the space.
At the center was the card-drawing machine, with a ten-meter radius around it where no zombies could enter.
However, there were quite a few people inside the lobby—at a glance, over twenty people were within the invisible barrier.
Several people had already approached the card-drawing machine and were pressing its buttons.
Lin Ran didn't hesitate. A Tang sword appeared in her right hand. At this moment, the people inside noticed Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu.
"Look, there are people outside! How can there be two people at such a high place? Am I seeing things?"
"No, there really are two people. They seem to be breaking the window."
"President Ye, what should we do?"
As the people inside were talking, Lin Ran smashed the glass with the hilt of her Tang sword. In the next moment, the floor-to-ceiling window shattered inward like snowflakes. Lin Ran kicked away the surrounding shards and controlled the mechanical arm to bring them closer to the building.
Mo Shuyu, behind Lin Ran, stepped onto the floor inside, holding onto another mechanical arm. She looked down, feeling a bit scared, but she dared not delay. The longer they stayed up there, the greater the danger.
She used the mechanical arm for support and quickly steadied herself on the floor inside.
The man standing by the card-drawing machine finally came to his senses. "Shuyu? What are you doing here? What's going on?"
Mo Shuyu glanced at him but was preoccupied with Lin Ran. "Lin Ran, be careful and come up."
"Don't worry," Lin Ran said, controlling another mechanical arm to wrap around her waist, lifting her safely to Mo Shuyu's side. In the next moment, the mechanical arm and motorcycle disappeared.
People around them started talking,
"Hey, where did that motorcycle go?"
"Maybe it fell off the building?"
"That can't be right. There's no sound. And what about that steel arm?"
As people talked, Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu finally relaxed, having made it safely inside.
Ye Boyang hurried over with two assistants. "Shuyu, what is going on?"
"Nothing, I'm here with my girlfriend," Mo Shuyu replied coldly. She didn't want to engage with these people. Seeing Ye Boyang reminded her of the times she was controlled.
"Girlfriend? Since when? Who is she? And why did you block me and delete me from WeChat?" Ye Boyang asked, his voice trembling.
"I mean it literally. I found you troublesome and didn't want to contact you. Because I have a girlfriend now," Mo Shuyu said, holding Lin Ran's hand.
Veins popped on Ye Boyang's forehead. If not for his upbringing, he would have lost his temper. "Why? We were doing well. I could feel your affection. Why are you with her? I'm the president of the Ye Group. Who is she?"
