The group chat became chaotic, but no one dared to trouble Lin Ran. She found these people amusing and didn’t expect anyone to speak up for her. She had met the lady from 903 before. She seemed nice, but surviving in this environment would be tough.
Lin Ran browsed the news for a while longer before returning to her room to rest.
The next morning, after a brief workout on the balcony, there was a knock at the door. Lin Ran quickly went to the living room security door and peeked through the peephole, seeing Mo Shuyu. Only then did she open the door.
"Come in quickly. Next time, notify me on WeChat first. There are more zombies in the hallway now. It’s not safe," Lin Ran said, closing the door behind Mo Shuyu.
Mo Shuyu nodded, "Got it. How’s your hand? Did you have a fever last night?"
"No fever. It feels a bit better than a few days ago, but any intense activity is still out of the question," Lin Ran said, slightly bending her hand to test it. She was referring to going out to kill zombies and looting the small supermarket, but Mo Shuyu blushed.
Life had been too easy lately, and she almost forgot about her promise to Lin Ran. Was Lin Ran eager to fulfill it? Not that she minded, but Lin Ran’s hand wasn’t in good shape. Mo Shuyu coughed lightly, "Maybe we should wait until your hand is fully healed. I’m not going anywhere, and I won’t back out."
Mo Shuyu’s face was red, while Lin Ran was puzzled. Fulfill what promise?
Indeed, Lin Ran couldn’t kill zombies in her current state, or her healing wounds might reopen. It was better to follow the doctor's advice, "Alright, I’ll wait until I’m fully healed."
"Okay, find a place to sit, and I’ll change your bandages," Mo Shuyu said, her voice trembling slightly as she avoided eye contact with Lin Ran.
"Sure, I’ll sit in the chair," Lin Ran said, obediently sitting in the living room chair and extending her hands.
Mo Shuyu took a deep breath, grabbed a small stool from under the coffee table, placed it in front of Lin Ran, and sat down. She placed her medical kit on the coffee table to her right.
She carefully cut the gauze on Lin Ran's right hand and removed it. The yellow strips of gauze were still sticking to the flesh, but the condition was much better than a few days ago, with significantly less oozing.
Mo Shuyu used a cotton swab to soak the yellow gauze strips in medication, moistening the parts stuck to the wound, then gently removed them bit by bit. She disinfected the wound with iodine and replaced the old gauze strips with new ones, wrapping it up with fresh gauze.
Lin Ran didn't feel any pain throughout the process, and soon Mo Shuyu had replaced the medication on both hands.
"Alright, remember to take your anti-inflammatory medicine on time. Also, come to my place for lunch. With your hand like this, you can't cook for yourself," Mo Shuyu said while tidying up the medical kit.
"No need. I have plenty of food at home. I'll just have some instant rice or something," Lin Ran declined, not wanting to trouble her.
Mo Shuyu frowned slightly and looked at Lin Ran, "It's fine for normal times, but with your hand injured, you need proper meals. Lunch is the most important meal. You can skip dinner, but you must eat well at lunch. Listen to me and come to my place."
Lin Ran, seeing Mo Shuyu's expression, got a bit nervous. She didn't want to upset her again, "Alright then. I have a lot of vegetables at home that I can't finish. I'll bring them to your place. Your daughter needs proper nutrition too, and things will only get worse outside. It will be hard to get meat and vegetables later."
