Yin Li continued to hit the lock, but the security door didn't budge. Frustrated, he cursed, "What is this thing? So tough! The axe blade is almost ruined."

"Tsk, didn't you eat today? Let me do it," Li Zheng snatched the axe from Yin Li. "Damn it, I refuse to believe this won't break."

He swung the axe at the lock repeatedly, but only superficial scratches appeared. The door remained intact.

Ma Yide was shocked, "What’s wrong with you two? Can't even handle this? What use are you to me?"

"Brother De, this door is really hard. It's different from regular security doors. We can't break it," Li Zheng quickly explained, seeing Ma Yide’s anger.

Ma Yide kicked him aside, "Useless. Move away and watch."

Li Zheng quickly handed over the axe. Ma Yide, after a brief stretch, gripped the axe with both hands and swung at the lock. Once, twice, three times... The door remained unscathed.

Ma Yide grew frustrated, "Damn it, is this door made of solid steel? Why won't it open?"

"I told you, Brother De, this door is unusual. It's much bigger than a regular security door," Li Zheng chimed in.

"Keep at it! Take turns if you have to. I refuse to believe Lin Ran’s place is imprenetable," Ma Yide commanded, determined to break through.

Inside, Cheng Yanhong listened to the pounding with worry. Could the door withstand this assault?

Should she call her daughter and Lin Ran? They were still outside, probably exhausted and unable to return in time.

The child, scared, curled up in her arms, "Grandma, when will the bad people leave? I miss Mommy and Auntie."

Cheng Yanhong hugged the child tighter, soothing, "Don't cry, Ruannan. I'll figure something out."

But what could she, a woman in her fifties, do? It was clear there were many people outside. After some thought, she decided it was best to inform her daughter and Lin Ran. Lin Ran was an alpha, and they had been following her plans lately. Unconsciously, Cheng Yanhong had started to see Lin Ran as the family’s backbone.

She hurriedly took out her phone and called her daughter.

It was already 1 a.m. Mo Shuyu had fallen asleep on Lin Ran's shoulder. Her phone was set to vibrate, so when it started buzzing, she groggily rubbed her eyes and picked it up.

Seeing that it was her mother calling, Mo Shuyu quickly answered, "Mom, what's wrong? Is something wrong at home?"

"I didn't want to call you, but I had no choice. Someone has been banging on the door for a while now. Ruannan and I have been staying in the room, too scared to go out. I don’t know how many people are out there," Cheng Yanhong said nervously.

Mo Shuyu immediately woke up, looking at Lin Ran. "What should we do? Someone is trying to break down our door and has been at it for a while."

Lin Ran took the phone, "Auntie, don't panic. Our security door is reinforced and can't be broken even with regular explosives. The walls in my room are also welded with steel plates. As long as you and Ruannan stay inside, you'll be safe. Don’t worry, we’ll find a way to get back. Remember, no matter what happens outside, don't open the door."

"Alright, Lin Ran. You two be careful. If you really can't get back, don't risk it for us," Cheng Yanhong urged.

"Don't worry, Auntie. Also, my computer has surveillance footage of the hallway. It's on the desktop. Please turn on the computer and check the icon on the left side of the desktop to see how many people are outside."
