When Mo Shuyu came out, Lin Ran had just finished noting how much work everyone had done.
Lin Ran stretched lazily and took a jacket from the cabinet.
"Where are you going?" Mo Shuyu asked.
"I'm going to use this to block the hole in the living room. Otherwise, I won't feel at ease," Lin Ran said, heading to the living room.
Mo Shuyu followed and looked around. "It's better to find some putty to seal it tomorrow. Blocking it with clothes won't do much."
"Okay," Lin Ran nodded and looked at Mo Shuyu. "You can sleep in my room. Auntie and Ruan Ruan should be asleep by now. If you go there, you'll wake them up."
Mo Shuyu bit her lip, her ears turning slightly red. But Lin Ran made sense. After a tiring night, it was better to let her mother and Ruan Ruan sleep well. "Okay, I'll sleep in your room."
Lin Ran nodded, took a summer quilt, and asked, "Which side do you want to sleep on?"
"By the balcony," Mo Shuyu said, feeling her ears burn again.
Lin Ran charged her phone and lay on the bed near the door, ready to sleep.
Mo Shuyu, seeing Lin Ran ready to sleep, sighed in relief. She moved to the bed and lay down. She thought she would have trouble sleeping with Lin Ran beside her, but she fell asleep from exhaustion.
Lin Ran also fell asleep almost immediately. When she woke up, she felt something pressing on her. She opened her eyes to find Mo Shuyu in her arms.
It took a few seconds for Lin Ran to remember that she had slept with Mo Shuyu last night. She looked around and saw that the quilt Mo Shuyu had used had fallen to the floor. Mo Shuyu seemed to have gotten cold and was now curled up in her arms, sharing the summer quilt with her.
Lin Ran was amused by her, and muttered softly, "Do you sleep this restlessly?"
Lin Ran nudged Mo Shuyu's shoulder a couple of times, trying to move her off, but the person in her arms just mumbled a few sounds, nuzzled her face against Lin Ran's neck, and continued sleeping, with no intention of getting up.
Lin Ran didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She thought that Mo Shuyu was indeed tired from yesterday, having ventured far with her and helped her get all the cards she wanted. So, Lin Ran didn't have the heart to forcefully push her away, which would surely wake her up.
She reached for her phone, checked the group chat, and found no new messages today, only the chat history from late last night.
Lin Ran then exited WeChat and started browsing news from various places while continuing to lie there, serving as a human pillow for Mo Shuyu.
After a while, there were sounds from the living room. Lin Ran thought it must be Cheng Yanhong and Ruan Ruan getting up, but she didn't move, having waited this long for Mo Shuyu to wake up, so a little longer wouldn't matter.
Around nine o'clock, Mo Shuyu finally stirred. The sun outside should be high by now, and although the curtains were drawn, the strong light still seeped through the gaps.
Mo Shuyu, not fully awake, instinctively nuzzled Lin Ran's neck again. Then she realized something was off. The feeling under her was like she was lying on someone, as if she was curled up in someone's arms.
Mo Shuyu was startled awake and looked up to meet Lin Ran's smiling eyes.
"Awake? I didn't expect you to sleep so restlessly. You even threw your blanket off the bed," Lin Ran said with a smile.
Mo Shuyu blushed from her ears to her cheeks. Had she been sleeping in Lin Ran's arms all night? Did Lin Ran hold her the entire night?
Mo Shuyu quickly crawled out of Lin Ran's embrace, darted off the bed, and ran into the bathroom.
