Before bed, Lin Ran let the two orange cats out, reminding them to come back by morning. Otherwise, the little one would be worried if she didn't see them.

The two cats obediently rubbed against Lin Ran's ankles, meowing a few times before leaving.

When Lin Ran returned to the room, Mo Shuyu had already made the bed. They couldn't shower, but after spending the day in the car, they at least needed to change their clothes.

Lin Ran and Mo Shuyu both changed into clean clothes before getting into bed. Lin Ran wrapped her arms around Mo Shuyu, kissed the corner of her lips, and saw that Mo Shuyu was so tired she had already closed her eyes. Lin Ran also began to drift off, but she didn't allow herself to sleep too deeply, given their situation.

Meanwhile, Zheng Li had led the survivors from the bus to the Jiangliao City shelter. However, they had encountered zombies along the way, with some even getting inside the bus. In the end, only eight or nine people made it to the shelter alive.

Upon arriving at the shelter, Zheng Li reported everything that had happened at the highway entrance. He didn't know Lin Ran's name, so he could only describe her appearance. The military had a sketch artist draw her likeness. The more chaotic the situation, the more they needed to catch a few "troublemakers."

Unaware that she was now on a wanted list, Lin Ran had already fallen asleep.

Around 4 a.m., just as the sky began to lighten, Lin Ran was woken up by the sound of scratching at the door. It took her a moment to remember that she had let the cats out the night before.

Mo Shuyu was still asleep in her arms. She snuggled closer as Lin Ran smiled, kissed Mo Shuyu on the lips, and carefully extricated herself.

Lin Ran quietly got out of bed and went to open the door for the cats. As soon as she cracked it open, the two cats squeezed through, rushing to rub against her legs, purring affectionately.

Yawning, Lin Ran crouched down to pet them. When she felt their round bellies, she could only guess how many crystal cores they had eaten.

She shook her head with a smile. "You two sure had your fill last night, huh? Look at those bellies, they are so full. But I have to admit, it feels nice to touch."

One of the cats was so comfortable it flipped onto its back, almost falling asleep.

Lin Ran gently tapped the cat's forehead. "You two are still just little kittens at heart. So cute."

After spending a bit more time petting the cats, Lin Ran got up to wash up. By then, the sky had brightened. Lin Ran decided to prepare breakfast, so she took out the pressure cooker, soaked some wood ear mushrooms, and opened a can of luncheon meat. She rinsed the rice, chopped the wood ear mushrooms and luncheon meat into small pieces, and put everything in the pot to make a hearty porridge.

She lit the portable stove and set the pot on it to simmer slowly.

Since everyone had gone to bed early the night before, it wasn't long before Wei Qingxue and Ding Tong were up as well.

"Morning! What time did you get up?" Wei Qingxue glanced at the clock, noting it was just 5:30 a.m.

Lin Ran pointed at the two little cats, "They were scratching at the door early in the morning, so I got up to let them in. I figured I might as well stay up and make breakfast. You two go wash up; the porridge is almost ready."

"Alright," Wei Qingxue responded, and she and Ding Tong went to wash up.

Soon, the house was filled with the delicious aroma of rice porridge. Lin Ran took out three bags of pickled vegetables, poured them onto plates, and set them out for everyone to eat with the porridge.
