On a sunny afternoon, Ant and Dec found themselves lounging in their office, the faint sound of laughter and chatter coming from the studio outside. They had just finished filming and were basking in the afterglow of a successful day. However, a playful rivalry was brewing between them, fuelled by their shared affection for Stephen, their dear friend who had recently been feeling a little down.
"Okay, how about a little competition?" Dec proposed, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Let's see who can show Stephen how much we love him the most!"
Ant grinned, already caught up in the idea. "You're on! I'll start with something really special."
And so began their affectionate rivalry. Ant kicked things off by surprising Stephen with a basket full of his favourite treats-a collection of chocolates, snacks, and a handwritten note that read, "Just a little something to brighten your day!" Dec, not one to be outdone, quickly devised a plan of his own.
The next day, while Stephen was at the studio, Dec arranged for a bouquet of flowers to be delivered to him, along with a card that said, "Because you make the world a better place!"
As the days passed, their competition escalated. Ant brought Stephen a cosy hoodie emblazoned with a funny inside joke, while Dec one-upped him by organising a surprise dinner at Stephen's favourite restaurant. Each gift came with a barrage of affection-tight hugs, cheek kisses, and words of encouragement-until their office began to resemble a scoreboard of love.
One evening, with the sun setting and casting a golden hue over their workspace, Stephen stepped into the office to find Ant and Dec bent over a notepad, engrossed in counting their tally marks. He leaned against the door frame, curiosity piqued.
"Uh-oh, what's going on in here?" he asked, his voice teasing.
"Just... a little friendly competition," Ant replied, glancing up with a sheepish grin. He didn't offer anymore information and Stephen didn't push for any.
Stephen couldn't help but chuckle at their antics, his heart swelling with warmth. He watched them as they tallied the scores, both of them trying to appear nonchalant, but the competitive spark in their eyes was unmistakable.
"Looks like you both love me the same!" he called out, amusement dancing in his voice.
Ant and Dec stopped mid-tally, their expressions shifting from surprise to sheepish realisation. "You heard that?" Dec stammered, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink.
"I did," Stephen confirmed, stepping further into the office. "And you know what? I think it's adorable that you both want to outdo each other like this." Their faces softened, and the atmosphere turned tender as Stephen continued, "But I want you to know that I love you both just as much. You're my favourites."
Ant and Dec exchanged glances, their hearts full. The competition faded away as they stepped closer, wrapping their arms around Stephen in a warm embrace.
"Guess we'll have to find another way to show you how much we care," Ant joked lightly, but the sincerity in his voice was clear.
"Or we could just all love each other equally," Dec added, pressing a gentle kiss to Stephen's temple.
Stephen smiled, feeling cherished and appreciated in a way that only they could provide. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
And with that, the tally marks faded into the background, replaced by the unshakeable bond they shared-one that transcended any competition, filled with laughter, love, and an abundance of affection that warmed them all.
