In recent weeks, Ant and Dec had noticed something funny bubbling up in their fan communities. A few fans had started shipping them together, picking up on the pair's natural chemistry, the easy laughter, and their affectionate little moments that had only grown over the years. It was mostly lighthearted fun, and in the spirit of giving their fans a laugh, they decided to play along. They found it both hilarious and oddly heartwarming that so many people saw something special in their friendship-and if the fans wanted to imagine a little more, well, why not give them a show?
So, whenever they were out and about or even on camera, they started to sprinkle in a few extra touches-holding hands, slinging an arm around each other's shoulders, and even stealing the occasional hug during downtime. Sometimes, Dec would give Ant an exaggerated look of adoration that earned laughs and cheers from nearby fans. Ant would usually roll his eyes in response, grinning as he joked, "Aw, don't be jealous, there's plenty of me to go around!"
The fans ate it up, and the online chatter quickly grew louder. They'd see comments like, "Are Ant and Dec actually together? They're just too cute to be real!" and "Look at how they look at each other-I can't handle it!" Reading these comments, they'd snicker, swapping smirks as they continued their little act, each just as entertained as their audience.
One afternoon, they were at the studio, going over a few last-minute notes for a show, when Stephen walked in. Ant had his arm around Dec's shoulders as they reviewed the script, leaning close enough to practically share the same breath. Stephen took one look at them, and, after a dramatic pause, placed a hand over his heart, letting out a comically exaggerated sigh.
"Oh, I see how it is then!" he declared, his voice dripping with mock betrayal. "I go away for one day, and suddenly, I'm chopped liver?"
Ant and Dec looked up, grins already forming as Dec raised an eyebrow. "What are you on about, Stevie?" Dec asked with a smirk.
Stephen put his hands on his hips and shook his head, managing to keep his face mostly serious, although a playful glint sparked in his eyes. "Don't play innocent with me! I mean, I thought we were mates! All this time, and you didn't tell me you two were an item?"
Ant's mouth dropped open as he tried not to laugh. Dec, unable to hold back, burst into chuckles. "Oh, Stevie, we didn't mean to leave you out," Dec said, reaching out dramatically as if to welcome Stephen into their "inner circle."
Stephen scoffed, taking a step back, pretending to be appalled. "I mean, it's one thing to have a little fling on the side, but hiding it from me? That's low," he said, shaking his head as if deeply disappointed. "Next thing I know, you'll be picking out china patterns without me!"
Ant snorted with laughter. "Mate, you know it's just a bit of fun for the fans," he said, wiping his eyes. "Besides, I think my wife might have something to say about it if I actually ran off with Dec!"
Stephen crossed his arms, pretending to be unmoved. "Oh sure, just leave me out of everything. I get it-Ant and Dec, and then there's Stephen, third wheel extraordinaire!"
"Third wheel?" Dec repeated, shaking his head with a grin. "Nah, you're the spare tire that makes the whole thing complete! Can't leave you out, can we?"
Stephen finally let his grin break through, plopping down beside them as he rolled his eyes. "Fine, as long as I get included in the 'weird couple' act from here on out. Don't want to be left out of all the fun."
"Oh, we'll definitely bring you in, but you might regret it," Ant said with a wink. "Imagine all the comments that will spark!"
They all shared a hearty laugh, the sound filling the quiet office as they continued to tease and joke. Stephen, leaning back with a satisfied grin, glanced between them. "Just don't get too cosy without me, alright? I expect equal amounts of cuddles."
Dec reached over to ruffle Stephen's hair. "No worries there, mate. You'll get all the cuddles you want."
"Good, because next time we're out, I'm holding both your hands and putting these rumours into overdrive," Stephen said, grinning wickedly. "And you two better play along."
"Oh, we're in," Ant agreed with a playful grin. "The fans aren't ready for what we're about to unleash."
As the three of them sat there, laughing and plotting their next antic-filled outing, they knew they'd be ready for anything. The fans might have their fun with the speculation, but Ant, Dec, and Stephen shared a bond that couldn't be defined or limited by any label. They were family, through and through-and they had each other's backs, whether in laughter, on stage, or simply in the quiet moments, where the love between them needed no performance at all.
