Ant noticed it the moment Dec slipped into the studio that morning. He moved with the same effortless grace he always had, but today there was something different. As he crossed the room, his presence seemed to fill the space in a way that made everything else fade. And then Dec wrapped him up in a hug that was unusually tight, his arms circling Ant with a kind of firmness that felt like a promise.
For a long moment, Ant simply let himself be held, feeling the warmth of Dec's body pressed against his, Dec's cheek soft against his, and the gentle, almost imperceptible brush of a kiss along the side of his neck.
"Morning, Deccy Darling," Ant murmured with a smile, laughing softly as they pulled apart. The tenderness in Dec's embrace lingered, making Ant's heart beat a little faster. "What's all this for?"Dec's smile was effortless, but there was something in his eyes that caught Ant off guard-a glimmer, a spark of something unspoken.
"Can't a guy show his best mate a bit of love?" he replied, shrugging playfully, but his voice was lighter, softer than usual. The twinkle in his eyes made Ant's chest tighten in an unfamiliar way, a warmth spreading through him that had nothing to do with the hug.
Throughout the day, the affection didn't stop. At every break, between every scene they filmed, Dec seemed to find an excuse to sidle over to Ant, slipping an arm around his shoulder and pulling him in close for another lingering squeeze. He ruffled Ant's hair, fingers grazing the soft strands at the nape of his neck, letting the movement linger just a bit longer than normal. Sometimes it was a peck on the cheek, light as a whisper, but at other times, Dec's lips would linger against Ant's skin, brushing a line of warm, gentle kisses along his neck. The touch felt almost like a caress, and Ant found himself lost in it, the sensation of Dec's hands, his closeness, weaving a comforting thread between them.
"Alright, alright," Ant said by late afternoon, his voice filled with a mixture of bemusement and fondness, though there was an underlying curiosity too. "Is there something you're not telling me? You're not dying, right?"
Dec chuckled, but his gaze softened as his eyes met Ant's, and there was something in that moment-a quiet sincerity that made Ant's heart skip. "Nope," Dec replied, his voice still light but with a depth to it that Ant couldn't ignore. "Just... felt like it today, that's all."
The day had been full of warmth, of quiet moments that lingered between them, but it wasn't over yet. As Ant leaned back in his chair, his eyes caught Stephen, who had been watching the entire scene unfold with a smile, his gaze soft and affectionate, though there was a playful glint in his eyes. He'd noticed the way Dec had been more tender than usual, and now, with a mischievous grin, Stephen leaned forward, his tone light and teasing.
"Dec," Stephen called out, his voice carrying the perfect mix of affection and jest, "you've been all over Ant today, haven't you? Is there something you need to confess?"
Dec, who had just returned from yet another affectionate moment with Ant, turned with a laugh, his face reddening slightly, though there was no denying the warmth in his expression. "Stephen, stop it," Dec chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "I'm just showing a bit of love to my best mate. Can't a guy do that without getting accused of something?"
Stephen raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying the attention he was getting. "Oh, I'm not accusing you of anything, mate. Just, it's cute, isn't it? The way you've been all over Ant like that. Making sure he knows he's appreciated."
