Stephen paced the narrow hallways of the ITV studios, the hum of fluorescent lights overhead a stark contrast to the whirlwind of thoughts racing through his mind. I can't do this anymore, he thought, feeling suffocated under the weight of his responsibilities. Each task loomed like a mountain, pulling him deeper into an abyss of exhaustion and anxiety. I just need a break.
Finally, he found himself outside Ant and Dec's office. He hesitated for a moment, feeling a knot tighten in his chest. Gathering his courage, he pushed the door open, revealing the warm, familiar space filled with scattered scripts and the lingering scent of coffee.
Ant and Dec were hunched over their desks, laughter spilling from their lips like sunlight, but the sight of them sent the emotions bubbling to the surface. Why can't I just be happy like them? Without warning, Stephen's breath hitched, and he felt a swell of tears prick at his eyes. "Guys," he choked out, his voice barely a whisper.
Before he could contain himself, the floodgates opened. He broke down, sobs wracking his body as he struggled to catch his breath. The tears flowed freely, and he sank to the floor, overwhelmed by the weight of it all. I can't hold this in anymore.
Ant and Dec instantly dropped everything, rushing to his side. They knelt beside him, their expressions shifting from surprise to deep concern. "Hey, hey, it's okay," Ant murmured, wrapping an arm around Stephen's shoulders. Dec cupped his face in his hands, brushing away the tears with his thumbs. "You're safe with us, mate. Just breathe."
They pulled him close, their warmth enveloping him like a protective cocoon. They really care about me, Stephen thought, feeling a flicker of comfort amidst the chaos in his heart. With every gentle reassurance, every soft kiss to his forehead and cheeks, he felt the weight of his worries begin to lift, even just a little.
"I'm just so overwhelmed," he gasped between sobs. "I'm exhausted."
Dec nodded, his eyes full of empathy. "We get it, love. Just let it all out," he said softly, continuing to rub Stephen's back in soothing circles. It's so nice to be held like this, Stephen thought, wishing he could freeze this moment in time.
Ant held him tighter, whispering calming words into his ear, "You're not alone in this, Stephen. We're here for you. Always." Slowly, Stephen's sobs softened, and he began to relax against them. I don't want this to end.
Before long, Stephen's breathing evened out, and he drifted off in their embrace, feeling cherished and safe. Ant and Dec exchanged a glance, relief washing over them as they continued to hold him close, humming softly as they worked on their scripts, ensuring he remained undisturbed.
A couple of hours passed, and Stephen stirred awake, blinking against the dim light of the office. He lifted his head from Dec's lap, realising they were still there, arms around him, keeping him close. Did they really stay with me this whole time?
"Hey there, sleepyhead," Ant said with a warm smile, brushing a stray hair from Stephen's face. "How are you feeling now?"
Stephen took a deep breath, a smile creeping onto his face. "I feel... a lot better," he admitted, his voice still thick with sleep but laced with gratitude. I can't believe I let myself fall apart.
"Good, because we've got pizza and snacks waiting for you," Dec chimed in, the excitement in his voice lifting Stephen's spirits further.
As they sat up and began to prepare for dinner, Stephen nestled against their sides, a sense of comfort washing over him. This is where I belong. "Thank you for looking out for me," he said, his voice sincere. "I really don't know what I would do without you guys."
Ant and Dec shared a soft glance, the bond between them deepening. "We'll always be here for you, Stephen. You're part of our family," Ant replied, planting another gentle kiss on his cheek.
As they dug into the pizza and snacks, Stephen felt the warmth of their love surround him, soothing the remnants of his earlier anxiety. Dec nudged him playfully. "See? Isn't this better than stressing over scripts?"
Stephen chuckled, his heart swelling with gratitude. "Much better," he said, leaning into Dec's side. He felt Ant's arm wrap around him, pulling him closer. I don't deserve this kind of love.
They spent the next few minutes eating and chatting, the atmosphere lightening with laughter. Stephen watched as Ant and Dec exchanged playful banter, their chemistry evident, and he couldn't help but smile. They really make everything better.
As the last slices of pizza were devoured, Ant turned to Stephen with a serious expression. "Really, how are you feeling now?"
Stephen looked up at them, his heart full. "A lot better. I can't thank you enough for being here," he replied, feeling the sincerity in his words.
Dec smiled, brushing his fingers through Stephen's hair. "Anytime, love. We'll always be your safe place."
Stephen closed his eyes, leaning into the comforting touches, feeling utterly cherished. This is where I belong.
Even tucked into their sides, he felt a sense of peace he hadn't known he was missing. With them, I can face anything. As they shared stories and laughter, he knew that no matter how overwhelming life got, with Ant and Dec by his side, he would always find his way back to the light.
